Re: Tick Tick Tick.... WTF?!?!
easy way to find out if its a rod bearing...
let the car idle and pull one plug wire out and see if the ticking stops if it doesent plug it back up and goto the next cylinder repeat untill u find if one stops ticking..
the reason this works is cause when u take the load off the bearing it will stop knocking if none of the plug wires help when you take them off its another prob hg maybe hope this helps

Re: Tick Tick Tick.... WTF?!?!
Is your motor tuned? Who built your motor? I had a ticking problem while my motor was being dyno tuned. What happened was the rings butted and scared and eggshaped the sleeves. Pull your head out and see how your cylinder walls look.

Re: Tick Tick Tick.... WTF?!?!
No, not an OEM valve cover... I used aluminum filler bondo type ----, i forget what its called.
The spark plug wire pulling idea.... i'll try it... Always gotta check the easy ---- first.
Pulling the head off to look @ the cylinder walls LAST resort haha.
And yes, i boosted this engine from day one. It's a built engine, and my fourth engine in this car... i got the air fuels running right, and did a couple quick pulls to seat the rings... then i drove it normally for 500 miles.
I built the engine myself, as well as the last two built D16's i've had.
If i can get this tick figured out, i'm throwin in my precicion 880cc injectors to have some more fun.
I'M STILL STUMPED why i had detonation for a split second, then it was running fine.... Like it was bad... Felt like Anti-lock brakes for a second, w/ a backfire... Then it started pulling like normal again. Engine runs strong for 500+ miles.... i change to synthetic oil... i drive for 50 more miles... pull a little... then put put VROOM.... now tick. argh.
I'll try my det can as a stethoscope right now~

Re: Tick Tick Tick.... WTF?!?!
PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!! pRAISE THE LORD !!!!!!!!!!
i'm so glad i found it...
Used my det cans, and located the source of the noise coming from the exhaust side of the head... specifically between cylinders 3 and 4... I LOVE THE DET CANS!!! they work magic...
So i pulled the valve cover... and the adjuster nut for the lifter was loose BY HAND!!!! i was wigglin em all through top dead center... and when i got to cylinder 4... the inner exhaust lifter's adjuster nut was almost off!!!!
Tightened it back up to spec, and car sounds quiet and beautiful again.
WOOT WOOT... another honda fixed... I no longer doubt my engine building ability haha.
DET CANS FTMFW!!!!
