tial wastegate open at startup? sounds like an exhaust leak..help.
hey guys, installed a 38mm .8bar gate on my D16A6 turbo car.
when i start the car up, i have exhaust gas coming out of the wastegate dump right away, is this supposed to happen?
I was under the impression that the wastegate is only going expell exhaust gas when the turbo is spooling and making power and not on startup?
the vac source for the wastegate is coming off the turbo compressor, there is a port on the side of the turbo. Could the mild pressure the turbo is building on startup be cause for the wastegate to be opening prematurely, if im taking the vac source right from the turbo?
The turbo itself is a SVO turbo.
I was thinking about running the wastegate off the PCV line to see what it does?
any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

i do have the vac line hooked up to the side of the wg. it comes up from the side of the turbo, up to the side of the wg.
I did no use the sealer ring as the flange i have does not have a recessed groove in it for it to seat into. If i put the sealer ring in and use a gasket, the flange of the wg, will not seat on the manifold flange and will cause a leak.

It should seat as you tighten it down. I have a 35mm and i put my seal ring upside down thinking it went that way because it fit the flange very well. But i noticed it before the final install and flipped it over. It looked like i could not get a gasket it their but when you tighten it down the ring will compress the wg to flush mount.
I do have a qustion for other guys, did you use the regular gasket or one with the fire ring? I have both but im not sure which will work best on this side of the wg.

I wouldn't run a gasket. They will just blow out anyways.
