3/16 brake line works great...and will not deteriorate. Pick up a loaner flange tool from AutoZone as well as the proper brass fittings for your application.

As far as the drain is concerned, do not skimp out on the material. Go to a hydraulic supply company and get some hose specifically made for oils. You can pick up some barbed/npt fittings for your oil pan...and a npt tap from your local hardware store.

go visit the hardware store. Don't ask them that you need tubing for a turbo or for a car cause they'll tell you it's a hardware store and not a autoparts store. Just get some high psi rubber fuel line and then some barb'd fittings and hell if you have any of the original pieces on your turbo your using. You could probably salvage those and use those too. But Steve/Tunertoys has the monopoly on block fitting for the oil feedline. Curser them to hell!!! But damn that piece sure is sexy and space age nasa technology at it's finest. :P

I guess mcmaster does have the bspt fitting, but to go from a 1/8bspt to a 1/8npt it's like three fittings. It reminds me of an erector set. lol

I would be interested in 2-3 independant do it yourselfers to source a 100% complete oil line kit from local hardware stores/internet sites. I would fund it, and I would have another independant do a write up on each complete kit, their strengths, their weaknesses, and their costs.

After taxes, shipping, and actual costs it'd be fun to see just how much cheaper it would be than buying one of our kits. I have my suspicions that the money saved vs. what you got would favor my kit, but either way I'd post it up on the "DIY of the month" section and let it be.

I'll accept that challenge. Using brake lines you can make a nice kit for under $10.00 using parts from NAPA

If we do this, I'd like for the participants to use new fittings/parts as to get an actual supplier and cost.

Of course there are oppertunities for finding the stock drain flange and modifying it or something, but the list would need to be something that could be duplicated over and over.

There is no way to gauge the value of kits.

My first turbo I bought was from a local. He made his with brake lines and high temp hose. It worked well. Tony fab never pays for kits.

You can make the oil line kits cheaper, but not of higher quality for the most part.

I would guess that the kits close to the Stealthmode kit are all gonna be about $40 and take some hunting and leg work.

Pre-fab kit is just a few clicks away and it is delivered to your door. All about the convenience.

My oil feed kit cost me around $25 from McMaster.com after shipping, I bought;

1) a 1/8 bstp male to male, (this threads into the block)
2) a 1/8 bspt tee, (this threads into the above, the oil sender threads into one of the tees holes)
3) a 1/8 bspt to 1/8 npt adapter, (this threads into the other tees hole)
4) a length of 2000 degree SS line with 1/8 NPT threaded ends, (this attaches to the above adapter on one end and to the turbo on the other end via the following adapter)
5) a 1/8 NPT female to 1/8 bspt female

This was for installing an IHI on my Toyota, same thing would work on a Honda.

The only thing you need to be aware of is with a cheap brass tee you have to brace it, or it will eventually crack.

For oil return I used a factory barbed drain fitting that came on JY turbo, I then welded a small barbed end the same size diameter to my oil pan.

It's worked flawlessly for about a year with no signs of wear even with the line running within an inch of the manifold, the only mod I've made is I've added a 1/4 NPT quick disconnect fitting at the turbo to make it easier to take the turbo on and off.
