I bought a turbo setup from a guy in Thailand this summer, and still dont know what it is and how much it can flow. He said it spooled fast and that his car was faster than modified sir2's and faster than his new altezza, but I still don't know if it is appropriate for my car (D16z6, stock internals with str blockguard, large FMIC from Tyrus, Hondata 2b with greddy base tune for now). The turbo kit as I bought it was made by a shop that was tuning a supra outside, and which raced a civic in the Malaysain racing circuit, and the guy said it was a JDM turbo.

Here are numbers on the turbo:
Compressor: TD04 - 49177-01700
Exhaust: 0.40 Ouch 77-12520

I have pics but don't know how to post, so if you know mitsubishi turbos e-mail me and I'll send them to you.

Please tell me how much it can flow, and whether or not I should get a 14b instead and sell it. I would like to make around 200 whp and may be putting in LS rods with forged pistons before putting the turbo on.

its prob just a turbo from a jap 2g eclipse. its a good starter turbo and will be faster than NA but it is definitely not the best flowing turbo you can get. what engine is this on? i have a friend with a 1st gen eclipse turbo on a d16, its pretty fast with about 12 lbs but it has a lot of other work done on it (port polish pistons rods bored blueprint balance etc etc) he is upgrading soon because the turbo is too wussy. His turbo has also been ported/polished.

If its jdm it dosent mean its better than aftermarket, i love how ppl pay extra for jdm parts when custom or aftermarket parts are cheaper and usually better.

btw i hope that .40 isnt a/r because thats tiny.

The turbo will be going on a d16z6 engine. I am looking into stronger rods and pistons but not yet certain. I think the 0.40 means that it is a 4cm housing which is really small. As far as paying a lot for it, don't worry I didn't, I couldn't get all the flanges in the US, for the price I got the manifold, downpipe, turbocharger, additional injectors/pressure switches to activate them, smc mbc, small JDM 4AG-e intercooler, oil lines, etc...

I'm pretty sure it's smaller than a 13c, (think it may be an 11b) but not 100%, which is why I was hoping to find out more about it.

I am looking for a streetable, not laggy, turbocharger, with a goal of 200hp, with a large intercooler, hondata, and 450cc injectors. I am hoping to run less than 10psi, in order to keep the stock map sensor, but may wish to upgrade eventually if I get a 2.5-3 inch exhaust (Currently have a hks hiper 55mm). The internal wastegate on the turbocharger currently dumps straight down, which may cause problems when I test emmissions (NY) and I may hay to join the wastegate dump back into the exhaust near the cat to pass.

Once again If anyone knows dsm turbos, I can e-mail them pictures of it in order for them to tell me.

Lets see some pics, Are we certain it came from a DSM? I didnt know they had JDM TD04's... what off of? Not very many 4g63's from japan.. and if they are, they are usually Evo's

I do not know what it came from except that I bought it in Thailand as a kit and that it came off a Japanese clip. I do not speak thai and the guy didn't speak very good english, so I didn't understand much about the origin. What i did see was one wall full of turbochargers, another full of trophies and pictures of a racing civic hatch, and a b16 head on the floor with independent throttle bodies.

At the time I bought it, I knew nothing about turbos and was trying to import an ITR clip from Japan and put a b18c in my car. I bought the turbo because for the price, I could not go wrong.

Got your pics, its definatly a DSM TD04 Turbocharger.. it came from the automatic 4g63T DSM.

Wastegate actuator is set at 8psi...

That turbo will spool incredibly fast on a z6. Can you make 200whp with that setup? its very possible, but you are looking to boost into the teens to make it their. Which means some great fuel management, and more than likly some bottom end work.
