Default t3 or 14b

I have a garrett t3 (m27 off a volvo 740 i believe) which i was planning on using on my prelude (A20A3) and i was wondering if anyone here has used this turbocharger before? I plan on running 10 psi, but i wanted to know if i would be able to make that 10 psi between 3000 and 3500 rpm? My other question is whether or not it would be wiser to run a dsm 14b, which being smaller, would make boost alot quicker, but would not flow as many cfms as the t3 would. Any input would be nice. Thanks

14b=instant spool with great torque down low, T3 still has instant spool pretty much, but will do better at higher rpm's than the 14b. You may be surprised if you look at the CFM ratings of both though, as the 405cfm a 14b can muster may be more than the T3 actually can. 14b's are ---- up top though as their single finned compressor wheels really cause some flow issues when high in the rev range. Only run the 14b if you want to take advantage of the water cooled bearing housing too because even though they come stock with a 360 thrust they still don't enjoy being oil cooled only for very long.

i figured the t3 would be a better top end turbo, but i do not have a very high reving engine, so i would figure something that makes boost semi quickly would best suit my needs. I would hope to make 10 psi at 3000-3500 all the way to 6500. The t3 i have is smaller than something like a super60, so i would figure it too, i was just wanting other peoples more experianced and knowledgable info on the matter. thanks

can't just say that a T3 will have instant spool and top end since there are so many diffenent AR's when it comes to T3's. so speakign from experiance i have ran a t25, t3 42/48 and a t3 48/60 on my old y8 setup. here is what my personal opinion is of all the ones i have used so far.

t25= boost at about 2500 rpm's and felt good down low but fell off about 5,000 rpm's
42/48=3000 or so boost but fell of around 6000 rpm's
48/60= 3500 boost and held till redline on my motor.

all turbos act a bit different on different motors and set ups all depending on downpipe/exhaust and that kind of stuff but that might help you choose of what you are lookign for.

thanks for the info, i guess the t3 would probably be best fit for my engine as its only going to rev to 6500, thanks for everything!

It depends on the top end flow characteristics for the motor too. Has anyone really looked at an old A head and compared it to a benchmark like a B16 head?
