t25 coolent in and out and oil questions
which line is in and out and which should be hooked up where... right now i have the line that runs from the head to the throttle body cut and it feeds the coolant to the front of the turbo's front fitting then comes out the other side where the line runs to the throttle body. does this sound right?
my car seems to run fine but once i get on the highway and run for a bit the water temp gets going up a bit... i'd like to make sure that dosn't keep happening i also have an issue with my oil pressure and that it is leaking a bit at the down pipe, i have heard about some people using something called a restrictor plate on the bottom of the turbo, should i be using one on a D16z6 turbo? |
Re: t25 coolent in and out and oil questions
I wouldnt wory about hooking up the water lines. The turbo will be fine without water. Your cars cooling system isnt designed to cool a turbo so the effects of you trying to do it will be negative . But you allready know that ;)

Re: t25 coolent in and out and oil questions
what? so hooking up coolant to your turbo is bad for your car? :1

Re: t25 coolent in and out and oil questions
I have always ran coolant to my turbo and it has had NO affect on the ability of the cooling system to keep my engine cool. But mabe it's just because it's a B16, I have no experence with any other honda engines and adding the coolant lines. Yes, my coolant system is all stock, half core radiator.

Re: t25 coolent in and out and oil questions
0 problems all summer on my stock rotted looking civic half radiator with coolant linesw to the turbo.

Re: t25 coolent in and out and oil questions
ok but for those of you that did run coolant is there an "in" and an "out" on t25's and which line should be connected to where...
i plan on continuing to run the coolant lines for the sake of keeping the turbo in good shape because i am pretty poor and can't be buying new turbos for no reason |
Re: t25 coolent in and out and oil questions
restricting the oil flow to a standard bearing turbo wont do anything. i have had this problem with my previous dsm turbo honda and i just went with a turbontcis becuz the dsm turbos always blew oil out the exhaust side. and dont run coolant through your throttle body just use the hoses the go to and from doesnt matter there is no in or out of the coolant lines on a turbo. but if you run it hard just turbo time it instead of useing the stupid coolant lines
i had a coolant line break on my turbo and all the coolant went on the road more hassle that what is it work on a 100 turbo. |
Re: t25 coolent in and out and oil questions
is there anyone that thinks that there is a point to cooling a t25?
|
Re: t25 coolent in and out and oil questions
i am also supprised by the comments... I have a dsm t25 on a stock d16, and have been water cooling it since i installed it. I didn't notice any increase in engine temp... But then again, the summers are pretty cool in the mountains.
As for the in/out on the lines... Its just a water jacket, or sleeve, so there is no wrong way to feed the lines. it will flow either way. I might consider unhooking the lines, and see how she reacts.. Will that by chance affect my Intake air temps? |
Re: t25 coolent in and out and oil questions
I'm water cooling my turbo and I have never even seen it hint at getting any warmer than usual, its there and easy to do so why not.

Re: t25 coolent in and out and oil questions
my heat might have had to do with low oil pressure or something, it's beeing looked at this week
|
Re: t25 coolent in and out and oil questions
no heat shouldn't affect oil pressure...
Where is you're return on your oil pan located? Is there a chance it was mounted too low. |
Re: t25 coolent in and out and oil questions
it's right at the top near the flange, no more than 5 from it, the hose and clamp are nearly touching it

Re: t25 coolent in and out and oil questions
so should i do oil lines to my rhb5 i think its gonna run like 7 lbs

Im suprized you guys that hooked up your coolant lines dont have overheating problems. I didnt hook them up on my Saab t3 that I was using and still would over heat on hard runs and I was running an oil cooler. But then again I was running 12psi and loved to boost in 5th gear( :3). I still say you are opening up a can of worms if you cut your coolant lines just to try and cool a used(I'm assuming that) T25. IMO that is useless. |
Re: t25 coolent in and out and oil questions
the t25 i have on the car pulls very hard and i really am happy with it in that sence.
my only issue is the oil and coolant and it seems that the coolant spike i was talking about goes away once the system starts flowing coolant around with the thermostat open |
