Default Supra..non-turbo to turbo

Anybody here ever seen a MKIV (1992 & up) non turbo supra made into a turbo. Will the engine handle boost? and, if so, how much?

I happen to be a huge supra fan and have been so for a long time. Yes your engine can handle boost. IT can handle quite a lot atcually. It is not the bullet proof engine the gte is but your ge engine is pretty good. THe new is300's have the same engine. There have been people who get 400+ whp with them. Personnaly i would try to find a gte engine(2jz-gte). If you can't though, boosting your engine is fine. My old quote used to be "A Supra wihtout a turbo is like a man wihtout *********." Good thing you are looking for *********.

Well I wish that I had something to look for ********* for...unfortunitly I'm just dreaming alot. But, when my money tree in the back yard starts to bloom, I would really like to get hold of one of those SWEEET testicular dreams. In the meantime, it's high revving 4 bangers for me!!!

Well that is why i took down the quote becasue i know i would buy a N/A supra if the price was right and i would have to save up to turbo it or swap the motor. It is gonna be 4 bangers for me too untill i can afford more.

Th problem with swapping a 2jz into a N/A supra is the fact that the rear end cannot handle the HP. (if you plan on running real boost) Its not built for it. So plan on building more than just the motor.

the thing you have to really worry aobut when turbocharging a mkiv non turbo is the tranny, its said that they can only take just over 500hp but other than that it will be good to go just gotta do good tuning.. we have made mid 500's on one but stopped because we knew that the tranny would not hold it.

Well i forget that i am not around Supra people cause it is ALWAYS assumed that when you swap in a 2jz-gte the 6 speed and drivetrain is coming with it. COMEONE GUYS did you not read i was a Supra fan!!!! No real Supra fan would take the gte without the tranny. I feel like you were trying to call me a newb. I am offended you think i would not know that. Oh and people do put over 400hp to the wheels on that tranny. In case you do not realize it that does not make it a bad tranny the gte and 6speed are just insane.

Just sell the car and save up and get the Twin Turbo Supra and sell the N/A Mk. IV. The GE motor is good but by the time you add it up it would be more feasable to just buy a twin turbo mk. iv, and heck the stock turbo cars also have much better suspension and way better brakes from the factory.

If you want to get into supras expect big $$ for everything from price of the car to parts. I was looking into buying a Supra TT about 2 to 3 years ago but decided I really like my GN fine and ended up buying a Porsche with some of the money.

go over to http://www.supraforums.com/ and use the search function for most any question you have.

And the question might come up about. OK, I found a supra TT but it's auto and I want a 6-speed, can I convert it to a 6-speed?

Sure, for about 10K total SP will be glad to do so, lots of work needed to make the 6 speed fit into a factory auto car.

And the auto trans turbo or n/a is pretty week. It fails after to long at just BPU level (about 400 to 420 hp) and it can be built up but still is not a reliable peice IMHO, about as reliable for supra guys as the 200-4r is for GN guys.
