I could not tell any spool time differences between open turbo and open downpipe with my t25. I could tell that it was holding 8psi with a downpipe, instead of boosting to 8psi and dropping down to 6psi or so

also, i think the reason you are seeing so much boost is that fact that the tiny internal flapper can't keep pace with the exhaust flow

my dsm is boosting 9 psi on my d16a6 with a 90 degree 2.5 inch pipe for a dp, it will spool up and lay rubber at a 1/4 throttle when your just above lugging it. It is acually hard to drive. I wish I had a bigger turbo with more lag, something I never thought I would say

maybe i should swap a a6 cam in mine, i hit boost a little after 3200 rpm, but it starts pulling hard at 4k due to my DX cam
