suggestions on turbo for 3.0L v6
Looking for opinions on a reasonably priced turbo to do a single turbo turbo on the 300$ dohc stealth. I can get the twin turbo kit from the dads vr4 but he wants 1400 kinda steep. I'm looking for a turbo that will support 500-600hp. I was thinking of something along the lines of a holset hx35 or a t4 t3/4t. Looking for a turbo thats not gonna run me more than 500$ or so. And dont hate on the stealth :l

The turbo kit my dad has includes the 15gs which flow about 400 cfm or so a piece so as a rough estimate it would need to be a single that flows somewhere in the area of 800cfm or more.

Re: suggestions on turbo for 3.0L v6
T3/T4 is going to be struggling. The T3/T04S 60-1 hybrid will make about 400bhp @ about 10psi on several different DOHC 3.0L v6's from Japan. You could always pick-up a .84 A/R T3 housing with a big wastegate & put that on to help it out. You could probably squeeze 500bhp out of one of those...
For 500-600 you need to be looking more at a full blown T4. T66 & T67's are common. GT35R would be great. GT40 would be good. Abit laggy, but better than a T67. Some of the newer big Holesets... Tony Leung's famous '94 3.0L 1mz-fe Camry made 320whp (409bhp) @ 14psi, 392whp (501bhp) @ 17psi on a T66. @ 10.5:1 Compression no less. http://htracing3.homestead.com/files/Camry/Cameng7a.jpg http://www.geocities.com/leunghomepa...no16psiWeb.JPG He's swapping to a GT40/88. http://htracing3.homestead.com/files/Camry/cameng8c.jpg I'd probably save the money for a real GT35, or GT40 & rebuild the engine to start with. |
Re: suggestions on turbo for 3.0L v6
Yeah my dad is going with the gt40 on his vr4 probably but hes working with a lil more money than me :l Im honestly leaning towards the hx40 it has the potential and the price is about right, maybe a lil laggy but it is fwd so that is not a bad thing. The fwd tt motto is ill beat anything from a roll....

Re: suggestions on turbo for 3.0L v6
dont be too cocky your rollin around in a fwd 3500+lb car. better have a good roll goin. but ne how tell us what you do and how it works out, dont forget to keep it HMT style!

What's he being cocky about? He said thats what the TT FWD motto is.

Re: suggestions on turbo for 3.0L v6
And for your info buddy thats the beauty of the mid level model 3200 pounds as compared to 3800 in the awd turbos. And once i ditch the seats hood and possibly ac ill have it below the 3000 mark easily. ;) And yes it wont hook up great but it does have a decent amount of weight over the wheels and 9 inch wide wheels dont hurt much either..

Re: suggestions on turbo for 3.0L v6
I thought the Awd system weighed a bit over 800lbs is it different for the stealth/3000gt? Im not hatin i admire you for doing it the hard way. I hate damn awd's, their alowed too much power for using all for wheels. they should be using N/A V6's lol. Go for the single tubro, much easier to intstall/ tune. Like i said befor make sure you post pics!

Re: suggestions on turbo for 3.0L v6
hte 4ws adds allot of weight also. so that 800 might be awd+4ws
