suggestion on a turbo for my d16
hey guys i got a d16z6 with eagle rods and srp pistons... i am boosting this i am just seeing i found some nice t25 flanged manifolds and stuff just wondering what a turbo would be for a quick spool but still good to maybe 400hp i am lookin to run around 300-350 but maybe leave some room if i want a hair more.... then also i found a nice t3 t4 turbo set up.... what kinda turbo ya thinkg would be good for that set up?......maybe a 50trim with a ar63 to help carry the boost?
i am a super noob with turbos so any help is good help thanks guys

Holsets are your best bet for bang for you buck. All depends on what you want to spend. If you search you'll find a Super Budget build making over 400 off a holset and cast pistons. Take a good look into the forced induction section.

Yeah but Holset isn't fast spool. IMO fast spool is about the same as a factory turbocharged car. So if you want that kind of spool and the size to be able to make 400whp; then you'll have to get the Ballistic Concepts chra. There are lots of journal bearing turbo's that can make 400whp, but they don't spool as fast as a stock turbo. Even with a T3 turbine; the compressor is still much larger and takes longer to spool. I guess it really depends on what your definition of fast spool is.

Avoid the T25 flanged ---- for anything more than 325 whp. I dunno, a GT2871R might do the trick, but the Garrett GT3071R with T25 turbine did nothing but spool super late and leave very little usable powerband, due to the turbine restriction you'll make at most 410 whp off of it. You spool 2000 rpms quicker off of a run of the mill T3/T04E with .63 AR turbine housing, and it makes more peak power too.
Holsets are good bang for the buck as well.
