two questions....why would you have two intercoolers, and how are you planning on using 450's with nothing but an fmu

yeah ... what he said... i dont think you could run 450's without some sort of electric controller (afc SMC or something)... are you gonne cut the 2 IC's and make em a big one???

Re:sufficient DIY setup?

the 450's will be controlled by a safc
as for the intercoolers

i'm mounting them on both corners of the bumper. my bumper has two ducts that lead air right to them. i got them for 20(both) so i want to kinda put that to use and dont really feel like spending a 400 for a front mount. it should work i dont see why it wouldnt. but do you think the motor will hold up decent?

Re:sufficient DIY setup?

if you have an afc why have the fmu....i would assume the motor would be fine as long as the bores arent out of round or cracked, etc.

Re:sufficient DIY setup?

You don't need the FMU if you're using an AFC. Actually, it will probably run so rich under boost that your engine will LOSE power!

Re:sufficient DIY setup?

so could i get rid of the injectors and just run of the fmu with the boost levels i plan on runnin(6-9psi).i would be using stock a6 injectors.
which way would be better
FMU
safc with DSM's

I'll take a crack at what you are asking. You want to know it the rebuild on your motor will hold the boost? well my advise is to go get everthing checked at a reputable machine shop.Things to get checked, crankshaft journal size and roundness, cylinder size and roundness, piston diameter in relation to cylinder size (piston to wall clearence),things like that. But all things being good your basic rebuild you mentioned should be fine.

hope this helps,
