Subaru XT turbo

Does any one know what turbo came on early subaru XT's? I'm talking 85-86 models. I know it's an IHI, and I think it might be an IHI RHB5 of some sort but I can't find ---- to confirm that. Theres one at the yard near me and it has little shaft play. Wondering if it's worth grabbing.

If I didn't need a snail for my setup I'd sell it to you. It's hard where I am to find stuff right now, everything is covered in 2 feet of snow :o

I went back there for a turbo off a volvo only to find th entire motor in it gone. :7

what can be done to the ihi rhb5 is hyrid the compressor side from a ford/merkur 2.3L.
it looks like that: http://www.blaastperformance.com/img...i-VJ-51t21.jpg

Well I ripped it out today and I have the turbo sitting in my room. not in bad shape. little shaftply in and out but nothing going around. I just wish it had the 4 bolt inlet on the exhaust side rather than the goofy 3 bolt subaru flange. Oh well. I'll make it fit. HMT time :6

In and out shaftplay isn't a good thing...means thrust bearings are shot usually.

The Mustang SVOs and Merkurs had T3s - you've gotta find an 87-88 Thunderbird Turbocoupe for the little IHI. :y

In and out shaft play is not good... :3

I had that turbo and it kicked ass for 7 psi. It looses boost top end though. But if you want to pass someone just step on the gas and go. Pretty much no lag when cruising. Hits full boost at 2,500. It will roast your tires.

I loved my rhb5 on a stock y7. I ran that lil fucker at 1 bar everyday for 3 months until the infamous y series spun bearing peeked it's ugly head in. I liked it cause it didn't even feel like it would spool and more like a powerful NA setup.
