Striped Exhaust Stud...

Re: Striped Exhaust Stud...
i think the issue you are concerned about is getting the stripped hole drilled out and helicoiled straight , since you don't have much room to have the drill sit straight to make a straight hole..
Same thing happened to me , i had to take the motor out to fix the stud , then put it back in. either that or take the head off.
Either way if it's as tight a fit as i'm thinking , there is no other way
PS: don't drill tooo far into the hole either , you don't want to do too far and hurt something.
Helicoil FTW tho, just find a bad head to practice on to get the hang of it.

i found that on the first 2 tries i got the coil 1/2 way down and the notch at the bottom got weak and out of shape and the tool that u use to screw it in was useless.

Re: Striped Exhaust Stud...
Drill was too big to fit and drill it square. No right hand drill. So I ground 6 sides on the shank of a 25/64" bit, 9mm 6 point socket, 3/8 elbow, big extension and a ratchet....
Oh yeah, same 9mm 6 point socket worked to hold the tap too. What luck?
And then the camera died. But that last pic you can see the new threads. But ----'s fixed and working good.
