Re:ssautoshits turbos

You take a chance either way. There are the horror stories, and then there are people like my friend Kenny, who runs a SSAutochrome mani on his GSR t3/t4 turbo for 6 months, and it seems to be doing okay. I think the key is using a flexpipe. Then again, it looks like their quality has improved within the last month or two.

Most people just say to run a flexpipe in your DP, and make a brace for the mani. If you do that though, why not just save some time and headaches and get a good mani.

even with a "good" manifold, you should still run flex pipe and a brace from teh block to the turbo..

lets add to this...

i know a guy that got a sautoshit turbo and when he pulled it out of the box, whats the first thing everyone does. spin the wheel right? ....his didnt spin. at all. :-X

so yeah, why the ---- are you asking, "are ssautoshit turbos any good" thats like sayin, "does my ---- smell good" and be serious about it.

Re:ssautoshits turbos

the one thing I don't get is if they are selling garret turbo's, why don't you just buy the rebuild kit and replace the bearings before you use them, what is the main component due to failure, and honestly how can a turbo that is NEW not spin at all. I've stuck religously to mitsu turbos so I don't know tooo much about the garret centre section but why won't a new bearing set and a balance make the turbo work?

turboboy 10-13-2004 01:26 PM

Re:ssautoshits turbos

well first of all i dont think they are even garret turbos. Second, why would you want to buy a turbo that you will have to fix right away

BigJ 10-13-2004 01:34 PM

Re:ssautoshits turbos

I don't know if they are garret turbo's in reality but that is what they have posted on their pages. I agree with you, why buy something NEW that you need to rebuild, but a rebuild kit may be considerably cheaper then purchasing a new turbo from a real vendor.

Re:ssautoshits turbos

ok, so i see you guys dont like SSAutoChrome and the products they offer...

well, i have bought 1 thing from them and it was my turbo.

it is NOT a Garrett turbo or rebuilt.

it was a BRAND NEW Master Power Turbo.

Master Power is a popular brand for desiels and have been used on many race cars around the world. IIRC, Master Powers HQ's is somewhere in South America and they only have like 5 auth'd retailers in America and SSAC is one of them.

i got my turbo from them for $350 shipped and got it less than 5 days after i paypal'd it to them.

it was the 57 trim, 50 ar cold side and 84 ar hot side turbo.

the ONLY thing i had to have made in order to use this turbo was a downpipe flange, but i just had my CNC guy copy the supplied gasket, $25 later it was ready to go.

i have had it on for about 3 months now, about 7,000 miles, boosting 10psi on a 3.4 L V6 in a Chevy Monte Carlo.

not ONE single issue with the turbo.

just my .02, but i would buy from them again.

Its like invasion of the noobs here to defend ---- products. :-\ SSautoshit is like a chick with aids, everyone fucks her and gets aids but there's always 1 or 2 people that banged her and said "Hey look at me I'm fine so far." If you noobs want to continue ------- a disease bag than keep buying ---- some SSautochrome. Its your money so waste it how you want...

germ 10-18-2004 11:43 AM

Re:ssautoshits turbos

wow, nice way to be a dick man...

seems that you guys have probs with SSAC's OTHER products, the ones they actually make in house.

funny thing is that the Master Power Turbo is not made by them, put together by them, or even touched by them (besides the outside of the box)

so if you have issues with the turbo that you bought from SSAC, then you may want to reconsider your stance, because SSAC is not responsible for the turbo's.

btw, the Master Power turbo's come with a lifetime warranty.

so if your looking turbo's that SSAC offers, then look at the brand name, because SSAC has nothing to do with Master Power except for they resale them to the US market, thats it.

and to the guy that had the noob comment, you may want to calm down a little bit, i am not here to flame or start ---- with anyone or anything.

i stated my opinion on the turbo i bought from SSAC, THATS IT, nothing more. so you go on to say that the noob needs to get it straight! wtf is that for, you dont even know me or if i am a noob. ::)

one another note, i have heard that the headers they make are ---- and just for that i would never by headers from SSAC, but a turbo is another story, look at the brand, not the reseller

Reddy 10-18-2004 12:06 PM

Re:ssautoshits turbos

I stand by my statement. I wasn't being a dick I was just speaking the truth. Don't be pissed cause you wasted your money on a awesome Super T70 power monster turbo. ::) With a failure rate of 99% people aren't even allowed to sell those turbos on this site they're so shitty. And I can't believe your going to argue that SSautochrome isn't to blame cause they only sell ---- products, not assemble them, well thats bullshit. So its ok if I have my neighbor ---- in a box and I sell it on ebay and when people complain they bought a piece of ---- my defense would be, "Well it ain't my ---- so ---- you, I just distribute it" A buisness should stand by their product. It took a threatened law suit for them to refund money when a group buy went down and all 1,000,000 turbos failed so good luck with that warranty that nobody will honor.

And one more time...

ohoh....by saying that all the turbo`s are made by Master..

Re:ssautoshits turbos

wow, what part of my statements did i say i got the super t70 ----? nope, afraid i didnt. i got the 57 trim, :-\

and do a little research about what turbo's they sell and the manufacture. Master Power Turbos are made in South America, NOT in South Carolina or wherever SSAC is located. they are shipped from South America and then stored locally and then DROP SHIPPED from the wearhouse, so that actually means that no one at SSAC actually touches the Master Power turbos they sell.

another thing i would like to point out... what reseller do you know that follows a MANUFACTURE warranty. you have to go to the company that made them, not the store you bought it from. take a business course sometime, it might help. because SSAC does not warranty any item they did not make, you must go to the company to recieve the warranty work.

its just like stereo stuff, the store will not take back the items on a warranty, so you have to contact a local authorized place that the stereo company allows to do warranty work (i had to do this for a Pioneer home unit i used to have and drove 3 hours to drop it off at the closest store). so dont give me that crap about the warranty crap on a turbo they dont make.

and like i said, i have heard that their headers and other items that THEY MAKE IN HOUSE are ----, but when it comes to items they dont make, yea, ill buy it.

and wow, nice STFU Nebie pic, thats REALLY original, i could have pulled that from almost any forum. ::)

so i see this site is like a lot of the other forums i frequent, resident post ----- that has 3,xxx more posts than anyone has the god syndrome and cant take any other opinions unless its his own.

its kinda hard when the compressor housing has Master Power molded into the side of the housing and 90% of the box is written in spanish as well as the warranty card and all documents. along with the SEALED plastic bag that the turbo came wrapped inside of the box.

look guys, im just trying to say i have had good transactions with SSAC

even if they are on your sites banned list thats fine.

i have had good experiences with them and would buy from them again on parts THEY DONT MAKE (i.e. manifolds, wg's, bov's, which they make...)

but if its a part they just stock from another supplier, i would buy from them because I have had good experiences.

When you've been around sites like this for a while and have the weekly "My autochrome manifold/turbo went to ----" thread you don't reccomend them to people. I can think of a couple people on this site that had those turbos fail. You are what statistics call an outlier. Just cause you had a good experience isn't going to make me change my mind and reccomend that people buy them. The bad outweighs the good exponentially.

projekteg 10-18-2004 01:13 PM

Re:ssautoshits turbos

i have the wg and manifold, the wg is great, the manifold required some customization to actually hold, but i would never invest in a turbo from them, that's just asking to get fisted :P
