I picked up a ssauto 50mm wastegate for my ka-t project. The engine is finally running well, but I'm almost positive the wastegate is open at idle. it is supposed to have the 8 psi spring in there, but just at idle you can hear it clacking and there is exhaust in the dump tuve (car has not been driven yet.. there should be no exhaust in the dump tube.

My vac line is running to the port on the side and the ones on the top are just open... that's the only thing i can think of. any other suggestions?

Did it have a fire ring?

 

i love how 90% of the wastegate problems are people not knowing about the fire ring....i think its funny

 

alright... well... i don't know about the fire ring.

the flange had a lip on it and the piston fits into it, but I didn't get any particular ring... what is it?


here's what it comes with....

 

if the valve flappng around inside, check to see if the spring is even in there. even a 1psi spring will keep if from opening at idle.

check for the spring.

 

isnt the fire ring just on the 35/38 mm?

 

i dont think those ones come with a fire ring.

yes but I think the one flange has a built in fire ring that seats against the valve.
