You run plugs longer than 500 miles? ???

:P

it didnt even take 500 miles to get them all loaded up with lead. it was like 200 miles

Sure it wasn't oil?

no, they were dry and white from lead. i am an airplane mechanic. i am used to seeing lead on plugs

I've seen oil deposits as off white to beige build up on the ceramic, actually look like it's te ceramic itself unless you chip at it or start forming bulges. It depends on how much you are passing, and how much of it is burning.

Offwhite build up --> ashy --> wet --> engine death.

The two cars we run race gas in get a fresh set of plugs every time they roll off the trailer. I really dunno how they wear. :1

JD, im not trying to argue. i hope you dont take this that way, but my engine doesnt smoke at all from oil. i did a compression test and got 170 accross all 4 cylinders. i get some black smoke from running rich under very hard load though.

the plugs in my car were dry and looked just like the airplane plugs i pull almost everyday. since i cleaned the plugs and stopped running avgas it has never detonated at all.

either way, i dont think race gas would be a problem on a wastegate.

I wasn't arguing, I was just stating the specific limits of my experience and knowledge, and wanted you to fill things in. Like I said, I have *zero* experience with long term plug wear + racegas.

How much power (estimated or verified) are you pushing? What sort of breather setup do you have?

Re: SSAC WG with race gas

sorry, i got the impression that you thought i was trying to argue with you.

i am on my 1st set of plugs since i went turbo so i also dont have a lot of experience myself. i am only making around 150-160whp due to my small turbo and lack of intercooler. i have a pretty nice log manifold that i plan to use with a t3 i am trying to get.

my breather is just the stock oil seperator with an open tube. i am also hoping that with this new setup i can make a real oil seperator system and have the inlet side of the turbo provide that vacume while under boost and have the intake manifold provide tha vacumme while not in boost. sorry about the spelling, i am at work and im not supposed to be on the computer. lol
