Something open, not boosting
Setup:
Stock from head to oil pan d16z6
Log manifold
Ching chong wastegate 38mm w/8.7 psi spring
Turboxs RFL Bov
sc50 turbo
750cc RC saturated injectors
2.5 downpipe to muffler
2.5 charge pipes
LSDMotorsport FMIC
Chipped p28 running CromePro w/stock map sensor
set for 1.25*/boost
set eff to 190 percent
Okay here is the problem. I just had the project done and up, took it for a test drive. Hits very little boost like maybe 1-2 psi, sometimes it would boost to that but occasionally I get a weird howling noise right when the BOV is suppose to discharge with no boost (with the pedal all the way down). Checked all the pipes by taking them apart and pouring water through them to see if it leaks out, but no. Replaced wastegate for a known good one with the same situation. Replace BOV for a known working one, with same outcome. I then made a mbc and hooked it up and up the boost, which raised it to 9-10 psi but still same thing. Like I would hit boost in 2nd gear till 10psi and then punch it in 3rd but end up with a howling noise and no boost. I don't however have a gasket in between the manifold to the turbo and turbo to the downpipe. Vacuum lines are ran to the brake boost line with a custom tefloned barb-t-fittings. Wastegate, bov, and boost gauge all have their own lines ran independently to the barb fittings. Anyone got any idea what the heck is going on with this? I am clueless...

Re: Something open, not boosting
try to put some gaskets in there, it seems even the smallest looking exhaust leaks make huge differences in boost. maybe it boost in 2nd while the mani is cold but then it heats up and warps a little causing it to leak more?
