Exclamation SOHC Turbo injector question.....

hey i have a project 95 z6 del sol which as i understand is obd1 (please correct me if my nub a$$ is wrong)....anyway if that's correct i should have saturated type injectors so ive been looking at rc's i don't wanna go dsm (i hate cutting wires) .... to support 300-330 whp easily i should be looking at 550's right?.... stock flows like what barely 220cc?

*also are there any real reasons not to go with the biggest Fu@#in injectors they have? ... i plan on running a standalone so im assuming you would be able to control output ? or is there something im missing ? this fuel ---- annoys me...

feel free to post your setup and whp they support (and wether or not your satisfied )...........................BALLZ

Have you already started to build your motor? What pistons, rods, etc are you using? I understand you don't want to cut wires..... but with DSM's... you really aren't cutting a ton of wires and it can be done very clean for easy connect, and disconnect. My neighbor did a really nice quick connect system on his resistor box so it was clean and easy to take out/in. You may consider it. 450cc's should hold close to 300hp. I have a Z6 right now in my 94 ex coupe and I just started cleaning up my new(used) Z6 block this evening. Currently I'm running a T25 @ 8psi everyday, but my new build is going to be 75.5mm Vitaras and FJ custom length I-beam rods. My power goals with that are 250 -300 as I need to keep it cool for daily driving and somewhat economic. My current set up gets 34 mpg everyday.

have you checked out the bosch injectors from Injector Dynamics? i have no real experience with them since they are kinda new but from what i have read on there site they seem ok.

They come in 750cc or 1000cc which is good if you are planning to go bigger in the future and they also sell injector plug adapters to make it plug and play. ( no resistor bock or wiring)

gimmie a minute and i'll find a link.

Thumbs up

arok,
sounds like we have really similar goals , the sol is my DD so i dont want anything too crazy and it definetly has to be streetable, FL doesnt have inspections though +1, anyway yeah the bottom end is running cp pistons and pauter rods, head is a fresh rebuild to stock specs. (hey are you using a cometic h.gasket?) turbine is a turbonetics t3/t4 48 ar. i have been looking at some finished dsm installs and i do see that they can be done right..... i dunno i guess im just lazy or to much of a ----- to hunt down what i need ....... anyway let me know how your build turns out you'll probably finish up before me ............

oh and nice post louie..... at 500 bones those are pretty $baller$ so i might stay with the rc's correct if im wrong but saturated rc's would also require little to no modification of the factory fuel system (not including a new fuel pump of course)

stock injectors are 240cc. the dsm 450's seems to support around 300whp. they can be cleanly installed where it looks completely stock, i did it on my own car back when i had them.

you can get RC injectors that require no modification. just bolt in.

a stand alone is retarded in a honda. chip your ecu and run ectune. you wont find anything much better for a honda. i just made over 500whp with my vitara block on ectune with 31psi and a 130 shot. its great.

there really isnt anything bad about over sizing your injectors within reason. a good tuner can make pretty much any injector idle. you should keep your goals in mind though. if you plan to make 500whp you dont need 1k's. i run 660's on my DD civic at 310whp daily. thats bigger than needed, but it runs great and gets 30mpg's.

where in FL are you? i live in St. Augustine, but my shop is in Jacksonville.

edge,
DSM injector set ups are soooo easy. It takes just as much time to find DSM's than it does to find any other. I can even make it easier for you... My buddy has a set of 450's with resistor box he wants to sell. All you need to do to plop them in your rail is to slightly modify the bottom injector seals or buy a set already modified for like $9 on ebay. Biggity bang! done deal dude. If I recall, you can even find a set by step write up with pics somewhere on this site. I recall reading it a million times a while ago. I pretty much wanted to keep the rebuild simple on my Z6 so I went to FJ's website and gonna pic up the Z6 race rebuild kit. FJ makes it so easy and uses all quality parts.

Sorry to thread jack a bit. What size vitaras you using? I need DD with good MPGs and it sound like you are right at my goals. What turbo you using and clutch? I have access to a couple 16g and 18g turbos and was considering using one of those on my build. I really want a turbonetics cause they are purrrdy.... well, they are good turds.

75mm vitaras, LSD 385ftlb clutch, and one of my t3/to4e turbos.

I don't really consider a 75mm vitara setup a good DD car. It rattles almost all the time and smokes some when it's cold. There is also a ---- ton of blowby. If you want to DD with vitaras, I would get the 75.5mm pistons and have the block bored to fit them. You aren't going to break any records like I did with thinner sleeves, but you will be happier about driving the car.

I built my block with the sole purpose of braking the vitara record and making over 500whp. That's why I used the 75mm pistons. My turbo setup was made with daily use in mind though. Things came up and halfway through the build I had to change directions and slap the car together for daily use.
