SOHC Intake Manifold choice

which one would you take for a built SOHC ? .63 a/r 50trim/mini ram/cam/springs and etc. looking for around 380-400whp. i read somewhere that the edelbrock IM was made for more of top end while the skunk2 was for more of a midrange powerband. i dont know how true that is. please give a little insight to your opinion.

The Performer X intake manifolds for Honda Civics are engineered for street/strip applications where peak torque and horsepower gains are realized between 3000-7800 rpm. The larger-than-stock plenum volume and 9" runner length are tuned for producing peak power at high rpm. The Performer X Series manifold is ideal for all-motor and turbo applications. Upgrade at any time to bolt-on 4 auxiliary injectors by simply drilling out the pre machined injector bosses and adding on a secondary fuel rail.

Skunk2 Racing’s Pro-Series Intake Manifold improves airflow thus increasing horsepower by as much as 8% over stock manifolds on stock engines and even more on modified or forced-induction engines. Skunk2 manifolds significantly increase horsepower between 3000-8800 rpm; the broadest powerband increase in the industry. Our new Pro-Series design features a 22% increase in power over our previous design. Engineered with a larger plenum and tapered runners, Skunk2 manifolds increase and accelerate airflow, and are designed to increase the effects of wave scavenging at the engine’s optimum operating RPM range providing a broad overall increase in usable power. Each runner entry is also modified to balance airflow between cylinders. Oversized throttle bodies can be used as a result of the modified IAC opening on the flange. Like OEM factory manifolds, Skunk2 manifolds are shell molded and CNC machined, to achieve superior strength, high-quality finish, and a precise fit. Each manifold is vacuum tested to ensure quality and leakfree operation. The Skunk2 Pro-Series manifold utilizes all stock sensors and auxiliaries for a simple bolt-on installation that delivers maximum power.

Re: SOHC Intake Manifold choice

neither one.. go with a factory ported manifold.. chris will say the same thing

Re: SOHC Intake Manifold choice

edelbrock has a smaller plenum volume, and won't kill pre-spool power. stock intake + work = best route

Re: SOHC Intake Manifold choice

only stock intake manifold i have is an a6 one. is it as good as the z6 ? porting ---- isnt cheap around here, im sure it would cost just as much as the skunk2. :1

i have a dramel but i could only go in about 2"- 3". and getting them all the same size would be a challenge in it self.

bandsaw + aluminum spool in welder = problem solved

go pick you up a cheap z6 mani send chris (hybrid mod) a pm tell him you need some port work done on a intake mani.. he will then tell you to ship it out to him he will do/know exactly what needs to be done to make it efficent and wont rape you like port flow or someother unmentionables

Re: SOHC Intake Manifold choice

thanks guys, ill give that a try and see how much it will cost.

does anyone on here use either one of these manifolds ??

how big of a throttle body can you fit on the sock manifold ? im looking at using the mustang 70mm or 75mm. ideas ?

Re: SOHC Intake Manifold choice

i thought it be cool having a throttle body thats the same size as the piston. O0

found some 70mm for cheap. looking at getting the throttle body spacer, welding it to my manifold after some sweet die grinder work.....45* angle. :6

For a 4 Banger F/I what is the Ultimate Design in intake manifold, yes there will be varibles, but The Principals should remain the same....
