thats pretty much what I did :P

 

i had my AC discharged for free, of course i was working there at the time...it had a full charge too. dont think they would charge you too much to do it. it requires zero work/effort from them to evac the system, plus a couple bucks for disposal of hazards materials...my guess is about 10-45bucks... your grandchilderen will thank you :P

 

is the ---- really that hazardous? i just let it all out into the air with my wife and a couple friends standing right there, i knew better than to breathe it, but didn't think it was that harmfull to the environment.

 

Yeah it depleets the ozone. Congradulations u now have a huge hole directly over your house!

 

the new stuff is non-hazardous to you or the enviroment.

 

i was lucky cause before i took it out, well when i was driving to my friends house to take it out, the thing seized up and shredded the ac belt. there was no freon or anything in there, i un bolted the compressor and the pully. all that ---- weight like 50 pounds.

 

the a/c compressor weights 17lbs, someone on H-T put it on a scale

 

thank god that i live in florida, that ---- will blow away to africa or europe or some ----, unlike you west coast people with moutain ranges and ---- to keep the dirty air around allz the timez. :P
