Re:smoking
thats probably part of your problem. the oil has a hard time getting out of the turbo putting extra stress on the oil seals and causing them to leak. either get a new manifold that locates the turbo higher, a new turbo that sits higher, or a scavenging pump and a oil resevoir that sits below the turbo seperate from the engine oil pan.

Re:smoking
the oil is leaking into the downpipe. i think i want a manifold that sits higher. could it be leaking out the seals and they not be blown where i can just put an hf manifold or aftermaket turbo manifold on and let it go?

Re:smoking
what kind of manifold is that? i have never seen one that put the turbo that low... i didn't think of that possibility.

Re:smoking
we fabricated it from a civic 4-2-1 manifold. anyone know if seals need to be fixed or are they okay.

Re:smoking
please help, just bought turbo header and am looking at different turbo. do you guys think it needs rebuilding?
|
Re:smoking
well its a little hard for us to tell if it needs a rebuild without looking at it. If the turbo is smoking, and your oil return is smooth, and you have no external leaks, it probably needs a rebuild. Most junkyard/used turbos doo.

Re:smoking
thank you, i am going to try a different manifold before i do anything. this turbo was in good condition when i bought it, so hopefully it is alright.
