SMOKE COMING FROM BREATHER VALVE.....HELP
i ran a search and seen a lot, but i just have to hear it on my own thread....
well, cars been running fine but my oil pressures been at 40psi for a while now. i also have a oil leak coming from i have no clue...lol its right at the oil filter but i thought it was coming from the oil sender unit but its not. then today, i get home from work, start the car and BAM, smokes coming out my breather on the valve cover..... please tell me whats going on, show no mercy to, i can take it... im planning to run a compression test also, thanks |

Well it's hard to tell until you do the compression test but smoke out the breather vent is a good sign that either your rings are gone or your ringlands are broken.

:-X I'm afraid to laugh. Karma has been a bitch lately. For all I know, I'll go fire up my car tomorrow morning and notice some nice oily smoke coming from under the hood :'(

That's what mine did your rings are toast. You probably broke the ringlands Probably #3 cylinder seems like it's the most common to go first. Mine always did at least

yeah, unfortunately, smoke coming out of the breather is a sure sign of blow by, which if you're lucky is just rings, but most likely rings and ring lands. have fun :-\
