SMC???DSM?? heeeElp!
i got my SMC+ today and its all hooked up..i am a little lost on the blinking light thing? i also have my DSM injectors/Resisitor box in also..i messed around with the settings a bit.still seems rich at idle..but when i rev it to around 2,800 rpm it starts to lope, like the IAC is freaking out? i double checked to make sure i had no vacume leaks, i havnt taken it out and driven it yet due to all the snow outside..any body else using this and have any base settings for it to get me in the ballpark.. or ideas what might be up with the eratic loping ..i am using a BBK fuel pump and a B&M pressure regulator..it says use 1.1 do i need to put a stock reg back on? 96 civic T-3 , D16y8

I am sure not many of us have experience with the new SMC controller, I knew alot of guys having problems with the old one. You might want to contact Zip on honda-tech and ask him.
I would put your stock regulator back on, and retry.

Re:SMC???DSM?? heeeElp!
well i played around some more, swapping regulators and all , changing settings and it still seems the same..these DSM injectors..i am using . i havnt had them cleaned or anything..is it possible they might be dirty or one ? what would a bad injector do? i raise the RPMs' and once i hit 2,800 it starts to cut out/lope then when i go above it , it goes away?.it never did this before so it has to be (A) SMC+ is messed up (B) DSM injectors (C) new honda resistor box .. i soldered all connections and heatshrinked them..what kind of probs are others having?

Re:SMC???DSM?? heeeElp!
I have the first SMC. The trouble i have with it is a Code 3(map sensor). So i change my SMC for the SMC+. I will receive it this week.
For your problem:
1: yes clean your injectors because if you have an injector that doesn't send enought fuel, you can run lean on a piston and blow the engine.
2: Check that all you connection are correct on the SMC and your ECU. Make sure you are connected on the good wire.
Good luck

Re:SMC???DSM?? heeeElp!
Just got my Email response from ECG on my SMC prob..hes telling me thats a common thing with it and large injectors and to use it as a drag launch limiter..OK! i havnt driven it on the road but i hope its doesnt cut while im cruising..otherwise it will get ripped out and get a quick lesson in flying..that wouldnt void the warranty would it?

Re:SMC???DSM?? heeeElp!
well i may have just figured this out myself..apparently it must of been going lean at that point in the rpm range..i fattend the 2-3k screw up some and it stopped loping..i guess it will take some time to find what correct setting each rpm range should be at..i was going by what people set the AFC at but that setting doesnt seem to work for as of yet....duh me.

Re:SMC???DSM?? heeeElp!
the loping is cause by a too lean condition between 2000 and 3000 RPM.. Believe me I know because I've had the worst luck on the SMC. Starting the car is a major *** problem.
Anyways, if you richen the mixture down to about 30 percent, the loping will stop and the car wil lbe driveable again. However, you'll be running F'ing rich at that point and it will hurt your dyno numbers, plus it could lead to pre-ignition in the later rpms. (unspent fuel in cylinders leading to detonation and weird stuff like that).
You could also have a friend who can keep the car reved at 2500 rpm for example, and just richen themixture, and like magic the loping will slow down more and more.

Re:SMC???DSM?? heeeElp!
there are few tests I am going to conduct to test whether the SMC is at fault or if my car just plain sucks
Anyways, know I gave up on the SMC, because no matter what I did on the dyno, my A/F curves didn't flatten out, and I didnt have the 20+ dyno runs worth of money to spend on something that was supposed to be almost as easy as plug and go.
I did enjoy the benefits of normal fuel pressure lines and other stuff that stayed stock on the car. It prevents other mechanical things from malfunctioning.
