skyline gtr intercooler
Hey guys i was wondering if any of you have used a stock skyline gtr FMIC. the reason i am askign is because i can get one for really cheep and i was wondering if i would have any problems fitting behind my crx's bumper or getting the charge pipes to hook up to it because the inlets are curved ....I am not afraid to hack up my bumper if i need to :P

Re: skyline gtr intercooler
a GTR intercooler is massive. I wouldnt do it.
something about hacking away the frame and front end support to fit an intercooler when its probably not needed as a 'good deal' just doesnt seem logical to me.
find a johnny race car, or something about that size...

Re: skyline gtr intercooler
mines only 9'' tall sits flush with the bottom of my rad support and i had to cut and reweld my rebar
with enough modifying and fabrication you can fit any thing but i recommend having some sort of reinforcement in the front or you could wipe out the hole front end in a small fender bender

Re: skyline gtr intercooler
they are huge, i have one on my ute, i always wanted it for my build because of the flow of the end tanks, and the perfect inside cross sectional area relative to the 3" inlet and outlet, ie minimal interuptin of velocity while passing through. not because i can say gtr cooler on here bro...
heres the cutting i had to do to fit it... bear in mind though, i have a full chassis, so as the cert man said, the body is just their to keep the rain off. i grinned when he said it.
you could get the dimensions from some site somewhere and see if it will fit rather than doing a me and deciding on the cooler and making it fit.
how much is dirt cheap btw? i'm interested. they go for about the same price as late good cond evo coolers at home. about 200US.
