Re:SIMPLE for you all.....selection questions

are all t3 the same as far as bolt ups regardless of what car it came off of.

as well are they all the same specs the .42/.48 that is regardless of vehicle they came on?

Re:SIMPLE for you all.....selection questions

one of the t3's has a fucked up four bolt flange pattern, but as long as you see a pic of it before you buy it, you will see, it's not a perfect rectangle like reg t3 flanges, it has one bolt hole that is out of whack, other than that, yeah, all t3's have the same 4 bolt flange and there are a couple different styles of dp flanges for them too, but the most common is the 5 bolt (although there's two different 5 bolt patterns, one is more common than the other). a .42/.48 will be a good choice for you, especially with hondata, fuel pump, etc., you'll be able to run 10 psi safely all day as long as you have your hondata tuned. now that i confused the hell out of you, good luck ;D

10 psi with uberdata or any ecu fuel managment, you should be fine! my downpipe was custom made at a muffler shop and my piping is about 2in the it goes to 2.5in right after the intercooler. havent got to dyno yet though. projekteg said it good, there are many t3's but most have the same four bolt pattern execpt one ugly ducking thats a bit different. some also come 42/48, 60/48, and 63/60. but the 42/48 should be about perfect!

the ugly duckling y6ou are referring to are from daytonas and lebarons (tbo335)... AR is 42/48 on them... same as reg t-3's
:D

Don't be scared of 10 pounds of boost. Treat your motor like your bitch, your gonna give it 10 pounds and its going to take 10 pounds and its gonna like it. This is my philosophy and its been working for years.

you're forgetting that there's exhaust pressure on the inside of the wastegate puck that is also trying to force the gate open. this will result in the wg opening earlier than what your gauge says with compressed air alone.

let's figure out what it's REALLY set at.
average streetcar engine has a pressure relationship of PE=2PI, PE being exhaust pressure, PI being intake pressure.

a few numbers:
F=P*A (force=pressure*area)
AD= area of wg actuator diaphragm= (going by what i've read, i don't have one handy) 1.227"
AH= area of wastegate hole= 0.994"
PE= 2PI
FS= force exerted by the spring in the wg can= 9.82lbs (8psi cracking pressure*area of diaphragm)
FD= force exerted on diaphragm= PI*AD
FH= force exerted by PE on wg puck thru hole= 2PI*AH

the point that the WG will begin to open is when FD+FH=FS.
"max boost" by corky bell states that cracking pressure is generally 1/3 to 1/2 full boost pressure. (that's where all these equations are coming from, in case you're wondering)

FS= 9.82lbs so FH+FD=9.8lbs
FH= 2PI*AH= 2PI*0.994
FD= PI*AD= PI*1.227

so (PI*1.227)+(2PI*0.994)=9.82

solve for PI and we get ~3psi as our cracking pressure. which means our max boost with that wastegate is between 6-9psi.

these numbers would be more accurate if someone could measure the wg canister diamter and the diameter of the wastegate hole and plug their areas into the formula (remember A=pi*r^2).

point is, what boost the WG is set at is not as simple as measuring the pressure needed to open it on a bench.
