Default setting the timing

i set my timing at the dizzy by just turnin it and didnt bridge the connector under the dash! does this matter? the timing is deffinatly set now tho because i now have no detination now, but i did before i set the timing.

So have i done any harm?

Yeah, you should be fine. AFAIK the service connection just allows you to get an accurate reading with a timing light by regulating the rpms. Timing changes wildly as rpms increase - to test it, manually open up the throttle from under the hood while pointing a light at the pulley. Pretty cool. If it isn't detonating, that is all that matters!
