Default saab t3 rebuild, how much?

i'm beginning to think my turbo needs a rebuild, i can push the shaft enough side to side to get it to touch the compressor housing. is this a no oil in the bearings issue? if it isn't, then i'm going to need a rebuild

me and my friend did not notice this last night, but i noticed this earlier today when charge piping it

much better to rebuild it early on...i let one go and it made my rebuild be right around 400 bux...------- trashed everything...shaft had to be rewelded to be spec size, had to be a new compressor wheel, grooves had tro be remachined...was a complete mess

Dude $129 is only cheap for a regular prices saab parts. I saw a site that sell those for about $308.03. I would suggest buy that cheap $129 part.

if you dont mind using ebay parts, they have a bunch of rebuild kits on there for anywhere from $60 to $80. you just have to make sure its for your certain application...

turbo rebuilds should be done by a professional. there is more to swapping old parts to a turbo rebuild. average price to rebuild a journal bearing turbo is 300-500 from a professional. remember, you get what you pay for....

I bought an airesearch m10 for $50 on craigslist and sent it out to usedturbos.com in San Diego for rebuild which was the cheapest I found online to have them rebuild my turbo 265.00 I think also has 6 month warrenty for rebuild or just for balancing it is 50.00. Like busa4 said have a professional do it unless you are confident you can rebuild it correctly and don't forget to get it balanced once rebuilt.

im a pro , there is a lot more to just a kit and balance , there are specs to be followed like the the journal to bearing tolerances is only .0003 to play with before you have to machine to the next size up , so just be careful , you do get what you pay for

sounds to me like your thrust bearings gave out due to not enough oil...mine costed about $120 with a 1 day turn around time...they replaced everything inside and straightened the shaft for free...place is called turboauto in Nashville TN...ask for Jeff...but since its just a saab turbo id replace it with something else
