so i ended up not doing any of that. i went to take the ring off where the exhaust housing connects to the COMPRESSOR housing and the exhaust housing came right off. just 2 little 10mm nuts and it was off. kinda scary since it was so easy. im wondering how well its sealed in the first place.
secondly i put it all back on and saw that it was still off a little so i had to do it all again. and then i put the actuator on pretty much the same and didnt want the actuator shaft to hit the actuator housing so i pried a little and found that the compression housing will spin by hand w/out taking anything off.
once again kinda scary.

how shitty are these ebay turbos. i bought it off a guy and he didnt tell me it was an ebay turbo plus i was less educated at that point in time.

is there an upgrade in my future.

Those Ebay 16g's are hit and miss. I know one guy who has been running one at 20psi for almost 2 years and it's still fine. It sure doesn't hit like a real e316g though. I've personally seen 2 blow within a week and have heard of another 5 or so failing on the forums. I'd say yeah, when you get a chance to get your hands on something genuine that would be a good idea. That guy is a fucker for selling it to you as a genuine turbo.
