Default rotating a t3 center

I have the compressor side completely removed, so that is no problem. I am having trouble rotating the exhaust side. I have removed four out of the six bolts holding it up, the other two are very loose they won't thread out all the way because of the oil drain flange and the water inlet. can I remove the exhaust side completely and just put it back together with the center oriented correctly?

Keep loosening those bolts against the size. That will eventually pop the exhaust housing off which will help you get it off.

put it in a vice. Use a rag or somthing, and tigten the vice real tight right on the water jacket inlet / outlet. Keep the exhaust side upwards. Stick a long pipe in the exhaust inlet (5 foot or so) and push as hard as you can. It took me and my brother on the pipe to break mine loose, but when it broke, boy did it snap. It was cool. It's nice and easy to move now

Ok, so far I have gotten three different responses of what I should do... of the three, I don't know whether to go with just popping the whole exhaust housing off by loosening the bolts, or if I should go with the vice and pipe idea. 45psi, the whole reason I posted here is because you guys are all about diy, which is also what I am all about.

Will it damage anything, as in bending the shaft or breaking/bending fins to take off the entire housing? I am at school right now and I don't have easy access to a vice.

ok, i just cleaned it up with carb cleaner, and everything looks great inside. The only thing is, I can tell there is grit in the thin metal cup that goes between the wheel and the center section... can I take the intake wheel off, pull it apart, clean it, and put it back together?

dont worry about the "grit" in there, they all sound like that when you move them with the housing off.

DO NOT take the wheels off unless you have a balancing machine- yes it can be done, yes you can mark them, but are you sure you can line it up perfectly again? not worth the risk, turbos spin at 100,000+ rpms and if they aren't perfectly balanced they'll only spin like that once.

Don't ---- with It!

My first turbo, I pulled apart, and sold it that same way. The second one, I pulled the housings off, cleaned everything I could, and put it back together. Leave the shaft in and consider it balanced.
