My best friend has one that ran 11.2 with stock heads, cam, intake, and block + full interior and without a stand-alone FMU. Now he has a little bigger turbo, FEl-pro stand-alone, slicks, and more suspension mods. And its still internally gated. His dad has a $18K "stage2" motor that can make about 800hp with his current set-up and he took an external WG off to go back to and internal b/c he thought it was too much trouble ( and it was, it took me forever to get the exhuast crap off ).

If your pushing your turbo "to the limit" you shouldn't need that much WG area, but if you running 5psi on a big T-3 it would help a lot.

A guy named Cal Hartline uses an external on his low 8sec GN, but that's WAY BEOND a "street car" ( even though his is legal, and he does drive it to work sometimes ).

The GN is the baddest motor pound for pound that I've found other than the supra/skyline motors, but they're real cheap, hehe..

pound for pound you got it, ur right about hassle in many ways but it all depends on the car, the motor, the set up.. and so forth... its just know that with an internal wastegate u can get interference from high flowing exhaust gases and get minor fluctuations and boost creep, not always and not for sure... its just logical and ive done a lot of research, Honda motors are pretty cheap and cheap to throw on a turbo kit and run 12's all day in a light car daily driven, so thats pretty awesome as well

u can take it apart the oil seals are not like a gasket..

I tried to do this once with one of my old T3's I had. I ended up snapping 2 of the compressor housing bolts. Whoops!

So the question is should you heat these to remove them or will that damage anything like the seals?

u can do it while the turbo is rather hot if u wish... just use gloves.. the reason they probably snapped was ur angle.. u need good leverage.. a solid grab and and a 180 degree pull straight out

i need to rotate my compressor houseing too. both inlet and outlet point to eachother.

You don't need to take it off competely. Just loosen the bolts and turn the housing. Hit your wrench with a hammer until it breaks lose.
