RHB5 Question.
 

Does anyone know what the stock psi is on a rhb5 like if I just bolted it onto the car. I want to run 5-6 psi on my civic.

I think its 7 psi, i have one of a mazda and thats just what i can remember

they are really prone to spiking too, I found that before I had my timing dialed in I was getting frequent spikes to 10psi, once I stopped pulling too much timing I was able to get it to float between 7 and 7.5 psi max. boost.

These things have a pretty small turbine and they can be pretty sensitive to timing, the more retarded the timing the more heat energy coming out the exhaust which generally equates to more boost.

hook up a manual boost controller or perhaps thread the wastegate arm?

a manual boost controller will only Raise boost from the stock actuated level. You could thread the wastegate arm to extend it open, but this will create some serious lag by doing so. Your better off getting a Chrysler Turbo (Kcar anything with the 2.2l) all their wastegates are set at 5.5psi and fabricate it to fit on your turbo. Otherwise just get some better fuel management and suck it up, because 8psi aint ----, you'll want more later on trust me ;)

I lowered the boost to about 4-5 psi by putting shims (washers)where the wastegate actuator bolts on to the comp housing. I have not put the shims yet on the pic below;
