Default RED VALVE COVER - TYPE R STYLE

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows of a technique to properly paint your valve cover to that nice lightly textured red color, like the real type r valve covers have? And then How do you remove the paint from the raised lettering and polish it?

Any info or sites would be great.

thanks.

paint the whole thing and sand off the tops of the raised letters with a sanding block and 400grit sand paper.

The best way to get those shiny letters is to take a disc sander and lightly tap the top of the letters after its painted.

Use any high temp paint.

Texture? Home Depot has cans of "orange peel" spray texture, but I wouldn't do it.
