nah, I live in CT where it gets below zero some days of winter. It will get thicker, but synthetics handle changes in temp much better than normal oil. I leave the oil in my trunk (to add when needed up at school) and it still flows nice even as cold as it is.

Your welcome bud- 15w50 did it for me, too! It's the way to go! congrats, i'm glad i could help.

Show us your oil return line, this could be the problem

Re:Rebuilt Turbo ...still smoking.. untill now!!!!!!

yeah, but you shouldn't have to use 15w50 just to get no smoke, something else is the matter. did you get your oil psi checked, i bet that's the problem if you had the turbo rebuilt and it was still smoking. you didn't really fix the problem, even though i'm sure your stoked that it doesn't smoke anymore.

reducing the oil presure to the turbo is the solution, but the oil solution is just fine too.

I have a oil return leak issue and I'm using wal-mart POS oil, but when you loose a quart every 3 days it gets fresh POS oil twice a week..

either way. you guys are right. Many if not 90% of the boosted cars on here run 10w30/5w50/5w30/10w50. There is a larger problem at hand and i fear that in the summer months you may experience the problem again.

Re:Rebuilt Turbo ...still smoking.. untill now!!!!!!

well the oil seems to do fine and it still smoke on 5th when i let off the gas but before it was absolutle insane about of smoke, the oil return is facing straight down and oil pan tap is facing up slightly, i dont think its that at all i think its the oil pressue being to high, i may try getting that needle valve thing..i dont know yet...

Re:Rebuilt Turbo ...still smoking.. untill now!!!!!!

The needle vavle trick works.

Dont feel alone guys, I got the same problem. I put in a needle valve it worked for a while, i tightened it up it work a while more, i ended up like 1 turn away from fully closed, now i can hear the frigging turbines scraping the housing so I parked it yesterday when i heard it. I found another t-25 but guy wants $200 for it. It is off a 99 gst show car. car has like 15k on it, he upgraded his turbo and everything, but then he trailers the car everywhere...I ask why? well its guys like this who make parts available to us right. anyway would it be cheaper to rebuild my turbo or just get another? I was thinking just get another one.

Re:Rebuilt Turbo ...still smoking.. untill now!!!!!!

some rebuild/repair kits are cheaper than others. all you can do is call around and see.
