rebuilding without rebalancing...
i have a T25 mitsu turbo on a D16Z6 and it seems to be shooting a bit of oil, nothing serious (it's not getting past the intercooler) but in the intrest of reliablitiy i am planing to grab a rebuild kit at a local parts shop and try to do it my self. the kits come with
* #1: JOURNAL BEARINGS (2 sets narrow & wide)
* #2: RETAINING RINGS FOR JOURNAL BEARINGS
* #3: RETAINING RING FOR OIL DEFLECTOR
* #4: OIL DEFLECTOR SEAL/WASHER
* #5: PISTON RING FOR TURBINE END
* #6: THRUST BEARING
* #7: BOLTS FOR THRUST BEARING
* #8: SEAL RING FOR SEALPLATE
* #9: THRUST COLLAR
* #10: PISTON RING FOR COMPRESSOR END
* #11: SEALPALTE
* #12: RETAINING RING FOR SEALPLATE
* #14: LOCKNUT FOR TURBINE SHAFT, 0.264"/6.70mm
* #16: O-RING FOR COMPRESSOR HOUSING
* #17: RETAINING RING FOR SWING VALVE
* #18: RETAINING RING FOR TURBINE END
* #19: BOLTS FOR TURBINE END
* #20: CLAMPS FOR TURBINE END
is there any reason i shouldn't do this at home with simple hand tools? i have ring pliers and ----, i am just wondering if the "balancing" of the turbo needs to be redone just to resolve a small oil issue, right now the turbo still makes 9 psi all day long after 3000 rpm and the car pulls great and sounds even better so i don't see a reason.

Re: rebuilding without rebalancing...
dude, my first restrictor choked my turbo from oil and the beast was pretty well seized. I took it apart and used emory cloth and polish to polish the shaft back up and take off the build up brass from the melted bushing, cleaned up the bushings and put it back together, works amazing and that was prolly 5,000 miles ago. I say go for it, just make sure u put a mark on the shaft, nut, and compressor wheel before loosening the nut so you can line it all back up when ur putting it back together.
