gpop also rebuilds them... Normal price seems to be $200-$300 range for a standard rebuild. Actually replacing internals can cost more.

If it's leaking oil then there is a good chance that the turbine seal and ring land is shot. If that is the case then the center cartridge is more than likely worn too. T3's are throw away turbos and the cost to rebuild one simply isn't worth it when you can buy another for less than $100. The problem there is shady sellers who have no idea of how to judge what is a usable/good condition turbo and one that they just want to get rid of. It's not that T3's are only worth $100, it's that most of them are rusty pieces of ---- already. I've been rebuilding turbos for 15 years and have seen it all.

Yeah, here on HMT, we love people who have seen it all. :3

Your website still states the GM series as being RHB6, which they're not. The GM1-8 are RHC6 as I have already told you. It also states that the GM1-8 is comparible to a TO4E, they're not. In terms of size, they're comparible to a TO4B S trim. In terms of flow, they're sligthly better but still aren't a 500 hp turbo. I'll give you 400+ but not 500 hp and definately not on a small displacement engine without it being on the edge of disaster.

Re: Rebuild t3...

So i should throw my turbo as far as i can cause it ain't worth rebuilding? Wouldn't it be better to have it sent to a rebuild shop and see if there are no major problems? I'd rather have it rebuilt and not having to worry about it rather then buying a used one and not knowing that it is on it way out... Input please!

Blaast, im going to give you a call later...

You can always disassemble it yourself and inspect it before sending it anywhere. If the oil retainer ring is worn, you'll know it. If the turbine ring land is worn, you'll know it. If both are worn then there is a very good chance that the center cartridge is worn as well, in that case, you'll know it. If the turbine is worn then it'll either have to be reconditioned in which case using a good turbine isn't junk is the better option. Either way, if the turbine is shot then that will increase your build price. If the center cartridge is shot then that will increase your build price as well. Bottom line is that oil is leaking and it isn't leaking for no reason. One or all three things are happening there and Blaast can attest to this. If that is the case then you'll spend a decent amount over what it would have costed you to just buy a another used turbo in the first place.

Not to mention that the only T3 worth rebuilding anyways is the 60 trim.
