The ebay intercooler looks ok to me-- it has decently shaped end tanks, and how much worse can it flow than any other intercooler? It has cooling fins and slots that air flows through, just like my cca intercooler. If it doesn't leak at all, and its only $60 and you're on a budget, why not use it? Tis the spirit of HMT.

Thermal transferrence from a thin gas to a solid metal REQUIRES FRICTION. Best all-around way to get the required friction is a LOT of surface area. A good tube/fin core with well designed internal fins inside the tubes is the best possible way to go. Failling that, if you have to pick up a bar/plate unit, do like Minor Threat did and get as big a unit as you can fit.
