Default R1 Turbo projekt vs 998cm3

Teh Project BEGINS...

Still waiting on a T3 flange, and some other things. For the header, 1.5" stainless steel 304L seemless tubing w/mandrel bends. The collets that will fit into the block are being turned on a lathe to 1.75" OD 1.5" ID by .630 length. If anyone knows where a place online that can water jet me some flanges for the exhaust that would be great.. or we're going to mill them from 1/4" stainless steel.. I think I'm going to go with an internal wastegate to keep it simple, but I will always leave that option open. This is a Garrett T3 turbo for mock-up, it has a .60 A/R compressor housing, and a .48 A/R exhaust housing, it is quite large, so I beleive fitment with a smaller compressor housing would be great.. Plans haven't gone much farther than the fab stage, but I beleive a PC3, 12:1 FMU and inline fuel pump should tame the fueling issues with only running about 5PSI.. Possibilty of an intercooler, and an aluminum intake manifold in the future. Wish me luck.

Yeah, I'm hoping to have some one step up with a good answer for a safe way to run boost on the 04-06 R1.. as to my knowledge it was only done one time using a claimed $7,000 fuel management system. Built by McCoy Motorsports (http://www.tobefast.com/customturbor1.htm) they planned on making it a turbo kit for the R1 community, but failed to produce the system after finding out that the costs for development would outweigh the sales end of it.

I'm hoping that these will turn out well enough to build a few systems with a few setups for external wastegate, and dumped exhaust to spark a few more peoples intrest and try to get this turbo 04-06 R1 deal going in the right direction.

I don't forsee higher than 5PSI with a stock motor. I would use an intercooler, the McCoy design uses meth injection with no intercooler.

But, I am by no means a company like them. I'm trying to do this because I love fabrication, and I love motorsports. I just hope that this becomes a good thing in the future.

They make a fuel and ignition capable power commander. It will be fine for boost as far I as remember. I have the PC3 software on my other laptop.

Hell if a Z6 has some good lag on a 60/63 or even some on a 48/60 I'd like to see what that R1 is gonna have.

a t25 or 14g would probably be a better choice.
