i think whever the buttefly valves are as close to the combustion chamber as possible its always more responsive. although u have a point with it being in a box... the negatives seem to even out the positives... no clear answer?

 

I didn't read much, but the logic I've always understood on ITB's is that they are designed for vacuum. Think about when you are running boost, your aren't just blowing more air past the throttle plate, you are running ~pressurized~ air in the intake system. ITB's work by allowing each cylinder it's own duct to breathe through, allowing quicker air movement into the cylinders. It almost seems to me, that while pressurized, this would almost be detrimental for the engine, as it would introduce a scavenging for the charged intake.

I dunno if that's true or not, but that's how it was explained to me, a couple of years back. :shrug: Who knows for sure?

 

from what i have been reading is the only benefit of ITB's on a turbo car is the throttle response. i am about to get started on a turbo ITB setup, but most of my reason for it is advertisement for my shop. just to show people what i can do. i dont expect any more peak hp

 

i had itbs on my 4age w/ t3 and it made it spool like it was a BB turbo.
