why don't you glue a piece of plastic to the end? Cut a small 2" circle from an empty jar of ketchup, salad dressing, etc. Silicone will keep it glued on there, epoxy will be good also.

But really, I don't think you would have to worry too much about the rain unless you drove you car through a huge *** pudle and submerged the turbo...mind you that would have to be pretty ------- deep. I'd be more worried about sucking in a small rock or bird or something like that.

Iwould think that the turbine would atomize the water before it makes it to the manifold. Just like a pre-turbine water injection kit. It would have to be a lot of water to hurt. And for a bird, consider it fried chicken and make yourself some soup!

all of the above! i have a 3" cold air pipe hanging low in my front bumper and have sat behind cars in torrential rain without any problems, what i try to avoid are those nasty river crossings, but then again i don't drive a 4x4

you don't want pre-turbine water.. it will eat the blades.

I've taken the nasty river crossings before, with water well past the tires.. then again I was driving a 4x4.. lucky the raging waters didn't wipe my *** out, at least it got all the mud and ---- clean.

Having an open hole in the intake is just a dumb idea. I think jeff posted pics of a turbo that was left open somplace in the main page.. fucked the compressor blade right up. I would be more worried about a bug getting in there then a rock/bird.

As far as sucking rain up, yeah if you're driving and you hit a puddle that deep, you're going to be fucked.. but more then just the turbo, you'll probably soak your ignition system.
