Could i use PVC pipes for charge pipe or will they get to hot and melt?

thats kind of no help lol but anyways, im planning to run 8psi on a t3t4 and my rpm limit is 8200 so ill be shifting near thats alot of times thats why i was wondering if at 8000 rpm maybe the PVC would get really hot and melt..

you can get HPVC, witch is hi'temp pvc, but even that won't stand up to much serious thrashing. EVEN if it would withstand the heat, there is still the small amount of oil and other engine fluids that seem to find their way into charge piping that would compromise the structural integrity of the pipes.

bottom line ....
PVC is great to mock up IC pipes with if you want to have custom welded pipes made. Run it for a weekend if your brave and don't mind molten plastic in your engine. Anything more then test fitting is just asking for trouble.

*edit for typo*

You could you use it to help you fab the piping up, then do it in metal.

coat the pvc with high temp. spray paint lol

alright thanks, what ill do is probly use that black piping for a couple of weeks but only for the cold side, i found myself an intercooler from a cronos 626 to put on my civic. and ill probly use some metal from a muffler shop for the hot side. Thanks for all the info.

goddamn, do any of you search???
this has been covered 1654651621 times!
dont use PVC, ABS is your friend!
ive been useing it for about 2 years now, no problems.
my whole charge piping is made from it.
ABS is high temp resistet, and chemical resistent (oil)
its the way to go, if you want to go that route.

just use exhaust piping, im sure you could do your intercooler piping cheaper, then what u would with pvc, plus it will take the heat
