This is getting quite common these days. The SRT4 doesn't even have an exhaust manifold. The exhaust manifold, turbine housing and first part of the downpipe are a single casting!

Re: puting BOV on turbo side of the FMIC... good/bad/nothing to do?

bovs are meant to do their job,
but i did have a setup(which i sold) that had the bov
placed before the intercooler...a buddy of mine had
some what had the same setup too...but his bov was
placed on the charge pipe before the tb...we had the same
bovs(greddy type s) but both of are bovs had different sound. Mine
sounded like a gush of air and his had the
greddy type s sound...weird and i could never figure out why...
we even swapped out bovs...it was still the same..

The entire turbo/motor setup contributes to the sound of the BOV as well....

I've run my bov on both hot and cold sides on my 240sx. Makes no difference.

I run my BOV in my muffler and I don't even need a turbo to get that cool sound. Thanks ebay! 8) Sorry just had to add that. lol. Just mount before the TB and you set. Why mount it on the IC?

i really dont know why the guy put the
bov on the charge pipe before the intercooler.
But everything worked like its suppost to, and i
did not care where the bov was as long as everthing
worked.

--my advice just pick a spot and put the bov there.

i have had mine in both places. i kept in before the ic/after the turbo. really all it did was sound alittle different. but people said it is better for the turbo. don't ask me why. i was just told that

Re: puting BOV on turbo side of the FMIC... good/bad/nothing to do?

There seems to always be arguments about this, seems to me there is not right or wrong...I've heard people say has to be like a foot away from the TB and others say it has to be right after the turbo...The mazda has it between the turbo and intercooler and recircs it back right after the air filter...i would think since the reason to have a BOV is to protect the compressor wheel the closer to the turbo would be fail proof, just makes sense but if you bleed it off near the TB it should escape before it could reach the turbo...I could see in a rare case that with the BOV near the TB there being a chance of millisecond delay and over time a small amount of pressure making it back to the turbo <---I really don't think this would happen but you never know and this could even be true for a setup right next to the turbo...If we are voting I'd say closer to the turbo for durability, but why take my word i ran 6psi without a BOV so i don't even count ah ha ha ha
