Default product interest check ( heading into protype phases now )

ive been playing with some 16 bit MCU's and managed to devise a device that not only controls Water injection with a 3d table that runs it Via a 3bar MAP sensor
( it reads boost and IAT (intake air tempature)) and RPM but it also manages the wastegate with a electriclly driven steepper motor( no more gate surge ) . It also has boost control by gear and road speed once you input your gear ratios and tire diameter and settup the VSS counter.

I am looking into making this unit avaiable for the neighboorhod of $375-$425 becuase the quantitys will most likely be low and it will all be hand built assembled and tested. the end user will have 2 p/h channels for driving injectors, TCC, etc etc etc upto 5 amps each and one PWM output. These will be assignable in the configuation software. the MCU had extra I/o. I am also writing code now for a datalogging feature that will track wheel spin, clutch slippage etc if your car has 4 wheel ABS so you can tap the speed sensos for inputs.

befoe i go any further im seriously interested to know ho wmnay people would be intrested in such a product and if they would want all the features. I have located a supplier who has stianless steel fuel injectors sutiable for running with water/alchohol mixes and a supplier of high vloume pumps capable of the same fuels.

So let me know guys and when we get the bugs sorted ill figue out a final price. anyways i need your feedback so we dont feature creep this thing and make it to exspensive. We are also thinking at this point about intergrating a WB02 controlle for the new Bosch lsu4 sensor becuase the
PCB has enough romm.

Whats up speak below.

Sincerly

Sounds like some pretty cool features. I think you could "tap" into the wideband market more if you made this thing portable for portable tuning. Just consider taking away from the market of someone spending $300 on a wideband sensor, and getting a whole lot of other features for like a secondary control computer on their car.

Otherwise I don't know how many DIY people would want something to give them all that data, this is definately a high end tuner toy.

Let us know what kind of ---- can be done with the wideband and this device, and extra cost.. I feel that will be a big chunk of your customers.

the wideband would be built in and would most likely have a separate lcd display. something pretty basic with a narrow band and a wideband output. But itll be built into the device.

As for the wastegate controll. i was doing some testing on a development board tonight and i tried to surge the gate etc on my little test piece with a regular MBC etc that gate would surge up and down 4-5 psi but with this electromechnical setup target was within 0.5 psi all the time and i would attempt to surge it it would imediatkley respond. no delays. and moe accurate wastegate controll works out to a faster car with less likely damage from boost spikes etc.

the software feature in this thing would allow you to configure the boost to be as high as traction will allow and you could intheory control it by rpm as well becuase you have some additional tables in there to tweak it that way to. Also would allow fro control when cold and hot.

Basically and EFI type setup to control just your turbo. I know it doesnt sound like a big deal but in all reality i think it opens the door to some very good tunning capabilitys that would enable the car to run safer, faster, consistnely and more reliably.

As for teh water injection built in. why not. i mean alot of guys ( i have an 88 accord no room for a fMIC ) really prefer it its cheaper and far more effective.

SO the extra outputs could be used to control nitrous and auxillary injector the list goes on.

but if theres something youd like to see in the device now is the time to talk about it.

Build the device and post the schematics for how to build it in the spirit of DIYers so people can avoid the $400 price. You should build this device in the spirit of helping people out and not that of personal gains.

I completely agree with whitey on this one.. this is HMT, I think someone would host the DIY for free.

There are plenty of people out there that have no desire to build this thing and don't know anyone with skills to do it, you'll make your money. I'm really after building things like this just for the love of electronics.. I would love to see a DIY kit using the bosch wideband, much easier to get a hold of then the damn honda vx sensor.

If you post the instructions on how to build this thing you better! have a pattent on it, if not you'll get robbed for all your hard work. It would be realy cool if there where instructions on how to build this thing. i think a car would run very efficiently as far as traction and boost.

bigmike i dont need your car. my car is plenty capable in its own wright. when you add up all the features and the fact that we think we can include a pump into the price its a smoking good deal. as for making it DIY well the EE who helps me with these things might not go fo it but ill run it by him. we will see. im wondering if maybe we can make the plans for the DIY setup just for the wastegate controller. that would be petty slick. plus were working a wideband AFR display in there i think your getting your moneys worth guys. ill see what the EE has to say.
