problems boring injector seals
 

using my dremel and a spare im...it just doesnt bore...
when i speed it up all it does is smoke up and melt the inside

now on 1 seal its 1/2 bored and the other half is bored less
not a smooth bore like the guide

someone pelase help
i can go as far as sending the injectors seals out usps pioarity and pay for return pioarty too

The smoke is the rubber that used to be there, it's working. If you really want pm me and I'll do them for you.

if you didnt, flip them inside out so you can really see what ur doing. I used a bench grinder and the seal over my finger. I dont recommend it b/c of saftey but i did it :)

I've yet to see "bored" injector seals that didn't turn out shitty.

Fit the seal over a Dremel sand paper drum, and lightly spin the outside of the seal against sandpaper or smooth concrete. Amazingly, you remove a balanced amount of material. Instead of flailing around with your dickbeaters trying to halfass the re-bore so that they fit DSM 450cc correctly, you just put a slight taper on the outside of the o-ring so that it can't help but make a good seal.

use the sanding bit wit the heavier grit. On my they went about half way and then the same problem accured or the seal would just spin around. At this point take the seal out of the IM and flip it around and start grinding from the other side.

Is it true that Zdyne sells the seals? I thought I read it somewhere. Anyway, I used a grinder and kept on checking for propper fittment.

i just used a cordless drill and some big drill bits, held the seal with my fingers and went through the inside of it a few times with large drill bits, they turned out perfect...

I stuck those seals inside a socket and stuck the socket in a vise, so they were pretty loose fitting inside (Just enough to hold it) and used the dremel, then stuck that same seal in a smaller socket, and did it again, they turned out perfect (except for the one that snapped but I used it anyway and it doesnt leak). If you ---- it up you can buy new seals at napa for $10 and they come with o-rings for the top of the injectors and those little plastic spacers that hold them from the fuel rail.

wow, you gouys have problems with this.

I can give you a couple tips. Whoever has the green-ish seals, (NAPA?) they are way firmer than the black OE ones.

I hold the seal with 4 finres around the outside while I bore out the center with a dremel sanding drum. Hasn't failed me yet. They turn out great every time.

Put the seals in the freezer b4 you do it. It helps it hold its shape as it heats up
Work on all 4 at once, cycle em so that they cool down and are not as soft
Check the size on the injector often so you don't go too far
Start with the green ones they are the best
If you can't hold em, put em in an IM with some RTV to hold it
