power steering question HELP

will it hurt my power steering if i take the metal U of the front end so i can mount my ic better i want to take out the u and hook the two rubber lines together instead

its just a PS fluid cooler. As long as you dont stay hold the steering wheel at full left or right, it shouldn't matter... cause that's mostly when the fluid gets fricken hot.
