porting HF manifold

So I was thinking to port my HF manifold just to squeeze a lil more exhaust through thr tihng. I was just wondering where you get those porting bits from? I'm guessing my short dremel bits just aren't gonna cut it.

Also, there are different bits for cast iron and a softer metal like aluminum correct?

I just kept thinking about the Wheeze and how much Jeff ported out all those stock parts... just thinking about the hours of metal on metal makes me want to resist porting it all.... but then again... I got ear plugs and headphones... ---- everyonr else within 500meters of me.

So where do i get these porting bits..... i was looking through Harbor Freight and they didn't have ones with long shanks.

you can just get like carbide cutter style bits from any tooling store.

sears, etc...

yea, port it out, you can get didfferent type bits for different materials, and you can get different shape tips too. A normal lenght carbide bit on a die grinder will port most of the hf mani.

My dremel worked just fine, I used the orange looking bits.

Also, if you want to be real cool. Take the intake side of the head and golfball it.

I went to wal-mart and got bits for the dremel to do mine. Be sure to get the ones for cuting steal.

Golf ball it? Huh?

OK, now I'm scared.

he means endyne spec dimbles.... supposed to improve fuel atomization.

The B and P are not even in the same vicinity on the keyboard.

Last I knew Lawry was putting a couple chisel-pricks down the injector groove in the head. That's not golf balling. If the gains from atomization are better than 1-3% I'd be surprised - more is gained from selecting an injector that atomizes correctly to begin with, which most of you here aren't running. Neither am I, nor do I care about it much. Honduhs don't have atomization problems as a weakness worth noting.

Given the R&D, theory, and precise tolerances behind golf ball design that allows it to shear through the air the way it does, I really doubt a DIYer with a Dremel could do anything other than ---- things up royally.

Also, this is homeadeturbo.com, not slownafaggotshitwithoutaclue.com. You don't need a shiny $1.9 million dollar faggot good flowing head as long as you aren't running off your compressor map before using all of it, or having the PR exceed what readily available MAP sensors you can use. Which is around 400 whp or a touch more for most of the unported D16 heads with stock cams, using the commonly available T04E compressors, and a GM 3 bar MAP sensor @ 29 psig.

You can buy Brand Name things all day, you can jock Lawry's sweet ass over feeding your own brain, but at the end of the day parts is parts and the laws of physics are as unchanging for one man as they are for the next. It boils down to brute force induction of as much airmass as possible, and thermal management so the engine doesn't melt down - everything else is putting it to the ground.
