Certainly SUPER thanks for asking

Re: Pics of my new turbo... and a question
There's a stock wastegate thread that reveals all wastegate settings. It's even stickied to the top of the correct forum.
Thanks! |
Re: Pics of my new turbo... and a question
it is a garrett TB06 turbo. The t3 flange is a little -----witted so u need to made some custom modification to make it fit a normal t3 flange. I only get 5 psi out of it. Maybe my boost gauge is wrong

If it is an OEM from the showroom floor wastegate, the adjustment nut has been "staked" so you will not be able to adjust it. This is common to all the Swedish turbo units, they did it to Saabs as well as Scania trucks. If it is an OEM replacement wastegate, or an aftermarket replacement wastegate, the adjustment rod comes unstaked so that the installing mechanic can adjust it as needed. These usually get tightened down and maybe loctited, but unlike the original part can be adjusted. |

Wait 'til you bolt that bitch to an actual T3 flange. Then you'll be flipping the ---- out, until someone reminds you of the belt sander. |

My Dad did flipped when he saw that it didn't match. LOL. You guessed it perfect. Belt sander? ::) Please, we had to get it milled down at the machine shop. :S EDIT: New signature. Thanks buddy. ;) ;D I'm still laughing. JP |
Re: Pics of my new turbo... and a question
Hah, I can imagine. Had a guy's compressor nut back off on his SSAC SuPeR T70 last night, two hours into tuning, he started flipping out. I mean, what?, I TOLD him it was a diceroll turbo.

Want my opinion? You aren't going to belt sand jack, sir. We lathed ours down and that my freind was nearly 3/32". JP |
Re: Pics of my new turbo... and a question
You can belt sand the turbine housing, but it's going to take a minute and consume the belt. I've shored up large-ish pieces of metal before with one, and before Sronce machineshop got a different head surfacer I did all the head too small to fit on their old rotary broach that I touched with a belt sander: Geo Metro 3 cyl, small V6 heads, a couple Saab V-4 and VW aircooled heads. Worked pretty well.
|
Re: Pics of my new turbo... and a question
it aint gonna fit on a normal t3 flange.... you have to mill it so it will be flat out.
i need to do it tommorow....btw. :S but it seems that most shops dont wanna touch it (mabey because it will ruin the blade?) anyone have a picture of the stock volvo gasket for this turbo? |
Re: Pics of my new turbo... and a question
I have a stock Volvo turbo manifold. It has the raised circle required to mate with the turbine and form a seal, there might be an outer ring gasket that goes with it, but I dunno.

What about it being level? And what kind of belt did you use? I'm really quite shocked it'd even do much of anything. JP |
Re: Pics of my new turbo... and a question
Level, the heads? LOL. Aluminum heads are flexible, you can torque out 0.003-0.006" worth of warpage, and a composite headgasket will accomodate another 0.003". Never had a problem, must have done 9-12 heads like that.
As for the flanges... guys on the jyturbo list level their own T3 flanges, when they get warped from welding, with run of the mill sandpaper stapled to a block of wood. *shrug* Soft cast is going to be easier to sand on than a mild steel flange. But, like I said, it's going to take a minute. |
Re: Pics of my new turbo... and a question
Hmm, I retract my previous statement. I NEVER would have guessed that. I wish I would have gave that a shot before I paid to get it milled down, but I now know. Thank you. ;) ;D
