Default Pics of my new turbo... and a question



got this for super cheap... its from a volvo he said...i think a 740... its a Air Research T3, 42. trim on one side and the other i cant find it... this wastegate is super hard to pull open... so does anyone know what its set for?... has to be more than 7 psi... also

There's a stock wastegate thread that reveals all wastegate settings. It's even stickied to the top of the correct forum.

it is a garrett TB06 turbo. The t3 flange is a little -----witted so u need to made some custom modification to make it fit a normal t3 flange. I only get 5 psi out of it. Maybe my boost gauge is wrong

i checked before i posted.. it wasnt in there


and how is it a garrett tb06...? i know air research and garret are like the same thing but how do you know that this air research is that exacty garrett model...

Yes, and no. Or maybe just no.

If it is an OEM from the showroom floor wastegate, the adjustment nut has been "staked" so you will not be able to adjust it. This is common to all the Swedish turbo units, they did it to Saabs as well as Scania trucks.

If it is an OEM replacement wastegate, or an aftermarket replacement wastegate, the adjustment rod comes unstaked so that the installing mechanic can adjust it as needed. These usually get tightened down and maybe loctited, but unlike the original part can be adjusted.
