Re:pics of my manifold in progress and finish
how did you get it so shiny

Re:pics of my manifold in progress and finish
Looks more like it was polished, rather than coated.

its polised, that was acutally just a quick polish, im sanding it and repolisin it for a real nice shine. these are the somewhat early stages of my welding ... been weldin for a fwe months now but im really happy how tis came out. if anyone is interested, im sellin it cuz im goin to get a T3 set up instead of the T25 im sellin the following as a " kit" T25 turbo - 3-An oil feed- alum oil drain flange to 3/4 barb or 10-an, but im giving youa brand new 10-an male. turbo is also polished, low miles 50K miles on it. the SS manifold pictured there for B series and 2.5 inch mandrel bent downpipe with open atmosphere dumptube * routes downwards* it needs 1 straight piece of pipe welded to conenct to the cat, i will supply the needed flange also. i will post pics once i get some this weekend. asking 650 shipped good start up for anyone. |
Re:pics of my manifold in progress and finish
how is that polish gonna hold up to the extreme heat of the manifold/turbo?

Re:pics of my manifold in progress and finish
The polish isn't a coating.. being "polished" is a process. Where you sand down using a coarse grit and work your way down to a very very fine grit, then buff it with a rubbing compound. Where you start in the process depends on the finish your material has when you start.
It won't "come off" or anything since it's not a coating. You're physically changing the surface of the material. Like polishing silver or something. |

Thats a nice job. but isnt only polishing it subject to rust without any coating?

Re:pics of my manifold in progress and finish
hey, im looking to purchase a turbo kit similar to this one, but its for my crx, i have a hf turbo exhaust manifold already, and im piecing the rest together. I was just wondering if this would fit on my car without the exhaust manifold. if so, how much would you let this go, w/o the exhaust mani??? thanks a bunch

Re:pics of my manifold in progress and finish
ya why not just sell your turbo kit with a hf manifold/adaptor plate instead of going through all the trouble of making custom ones? I mean unless you want equal length the hf maniflods work fine.
