Pics of my first dual cam zcrx
This is the crx ive owned for a couple years now, the body just keeps getting worse but the engine keeps getting better so I keep it. Over the winter I rebuilt a zc I got off a ricer kid who "could never get it running right". It came with a light blue valvecover and timing belt cover and a whole bunch of problems including the kid cut off the intake manifold with a ------- sawzall because he couldnt get it off :1 So its got a d16a1 IM on it with a custom adapter plate to a 60mm throttle body taperd to 64mm.
So here is the rundown zc block devcon filled, oil passages worked over, .020 over d16a1 head and intake manifold, both ported and polished. head has fresh valve job and crespo springs which im still iffy on. metal headgasket srt4 arp head studs eagle rods JE pistons- 11:1 c/r in vtec motors. I did a compression check 160-160-160-160 psi six puck from lsdmotorsports turbo manifold-csaddict special, thanks man tial 38mm wg- open dump 3"downpipe to 3"kteller full exhaust with magnaflow t3/t4 54 trim turbonetics stealthmode oil lines, what else would you use? obd1 po6 running crome tuned with lm1 adjustable fpr, walboro 255, dsm 450's and the dsm bov pics! http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-...82/11zcrx2.JPG http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-2/957082/11zcrx.JPG http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-...82/11zcrx3.JPG http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-...82/11zcrx4.JPG First vid ive made, more to come. Highway pull- Still optimizing might have to waite a bit for it http://videos.streetfire.net/video/a...820395627f.htm |
Re: Pics of my first dual cam zcrx
video is being optimized...wtf ??
so what kind of compression dose it have in a zc ? |
Re: Pics of my first dual cam zcrx
160psi is about 8:1
|
Re: Pics of my first dual cam zcrx
Looks like u need a set of plug wires, lol. Nice tho i bet she rips.
|
Re: Pics of my first dual cam zcrx
You said the body just keeps getting worse, so I looked at that first picture thinking, "that's not that bad..." then I saw the next ones ;D
nice setup, anything turbo is better than driving a car that looks like it should be fast but isn't. |
Re: Pics of my first dual cam zcrx
11:1 160 PSI? :o i think that's wrong..i remember that a guy with a little less compression to you got abuot +220 PSI or so.. ??? (i think ..)

Re: Pics of my first dual cam zcrx
read, it says 11:1 in VTEC motors.. not with the ZC head.
|
Re: Pics of my first dual cam zcrx

Thanks. Yea, those numbers seemed REALLY low for 11:1 c/r pistons, but the head made a HECK of a difference wow. How is that car running an OBD1 ECU? Conversion harness and a little extra motor wiring? EDIT: Your movie description says t3/t3. JP |
Re: Pics of my first dual cam zcrx
Haha, looks nice Aaron. My old wheels actually look pretty good ;)
I need to take a ride in the beast. |

Re: Pics of my first dual cam zcrx
hey for the guy who posted this topic where did u get those cam gears from and are u running cams in that car cause i have a dohc zc and it runs good on 8 pis im looking for cams and cam gears...have any ideas..
|
Re: Pics of my first dual cam zcrx
yea also interested what motor the gears are for i hear the d16 ones dont work but the b-series do whats up
|
Re: Pics of my first dual cam zcrx
The cam gears are AEM's they came with the motor when I bought it. They are for B series because the marks on the exhaust gear are one tooth off. There are holes through the cam caps and cams which indicate when your at tdc. The B series work fine you just need to ignore the exhaust cams tdc marks. I am using stock cams for now, when im ready to upgrade ill send mine into crower to be reground. Here is the info I got when I emailed them..
Regrinds on your stock cams are available. Specs are typically 10-15 degrees more duration and .010"-.015" more lift. HP gains are in the 5-15 range depending on tuning. Rough idle is common if we exceed the above figures. Cost is $95 per cam. Allow 1 week shop time + shipping. Send cores along with detailed note stating engine model, intended application, power adders (turbo, NOS, etc), rpm range to address below. Re: Pics of my first dual cam zcrx
Web cams, Gude, and JG used to make gears and cams for D16A1/8/9, EW3/4, and D15A2/3 I don't think they were big cams just like 264* or 268* something like that. Old Skool POWA!

Re: Pics of my first dual cam zcrx
i have stage 2 exospeed cams in mine and i love them they are a tad bit milder than a stage 2 skunk 2 but they shift the band great how a stock cam zc starts pulling real hard about 3500 mine pulls from 1000-7500 hard and doesnt give up. coantact exospeed for details

Re: Pics of my first dual cam zcrx
i Miss my ZC RIP little buddy.
Its OK im buying another 4 door and it shall find a new home their. :) |
Re: Pics of my first dual cam zcrx
Julio- I really liked the last four door I saw of yours, I remember the pics from when you were selling your chunt?? ass wheels I believe they were ::) Anyway I wanted to buy those wheels but shipping would have killed the good deal. Sometimes I think I should put my zc in a four door like that to get even more of the sleeper affect.

Re: Pics of my first dual cam zcrx
damn bro i have the same motor on 8psi what boost are u running and whats your rev limit...thats a real shitty 60 foot but thats a low 13 sec car if u get a better lanch...whats your rev limit and whats your boost at..
|
Re: Pics of my first dual cam zcrx
Damn! 2.5 60 ft's! Once you get used to launching it you should be able to get it down to 2.0 60 ft's and be running low 13's. Nice work. Inspiration for many.
|
Re: Pics of my first dual cam zcrx
i guess its really hard to cut your 60' down when your spinning... ;)
|
Re: Pics of my first dual cam zcrx
im running 15psi and reving to 7300rpm's. Im trying to learn how to launch this thing its just not workning out to well. I rebuilt my .63/.60 yesterday and put it back on so im getting spool up about a thousand rpms sooner than with the t3/t4. Now im going to start looking for a pair of slicks for the next sport compact days.
|
Re: Pics of my first dual cam zcrx
i just ran my car at the track and it ran 13.9 at 100mph with lots of tire spin with 2.2 60foot..stock dual zc motor on 8 psi..
|
Re: Pics of my first dual cam zcrx
yo daubleaaron what rad and fan are you running?? i cant seem to find one that will fit! i bought an after market 92-95 one but its too long. do you have a after market traction bar? let me know please. and you set up seems nice bro.
|
Re: Pics of my first dual cam zcrx
^ that radiator support for the stock radiator needs to go, cut that ---- out and make your own support lower than the stock one. I used some aluminum stock from holms depot. The radiator is from ebay for a 92-95 civic and the fan is my stock one from my crx.
|
Re: Pics of my first dual cam zcrx
Question, who ported the head and IM???
|
Re: Pics of my first dual cam zcrx
The head was ported by some shop down south. I bought the head off ebay for a decent price. The intake manifold I did myself in my kitchen ;)
