pics of my completed turbo setup.
Hey guys,
I thought I would share my new setup. Here are the pics: http://photoshare.shaw.ca/view.php?V...3PJWlJr&mesg=1 Here is my kit: -Directed flow manifold Tig welded by me -IHI RHB5 turbo rebuilt by me running 7 psi -Saab intercooler -PIT RFL blowoff valve -stock injectors -chipped ecu running Turbo Edit - fully tuned using my new LM-1 wideband with the Rpm kit (awesome unit) I have datalogged everything and the car pulls very hard - harder than my old civic using a t-25 @ 10 psi. I had a question though, I am using the NG60 stable map and running the ECUcontrol plug in to datalogg off the Ecu. I also datalogged using the LM-1. All the numbers look great but I was wondering about the hp/torque charting on ECU control - at full throttle it said I was making 421 hp @ 7psi - I know that is bullshit. My guess is somewhere around 210-230 hp to the wheels max. Has anyone had any accurate readings using this feature. Your comments are welcome. EJ O0 |
Re: pics of my completed turbo setup.
i like where you put your side mount! thats ------ sleeper! lol whats up with the half red mani? lol and yea 421 hp @ 7psi you must have a super jdm44217 turbo!!! damn! lol
nice set up tho... is it your first one? |
Re: pics of my completed turbo setup.
Looks good. You need some vents in the hood to feed the intercooler with air ;D.

nice set up tho... is it your first one? Hey. The mani was painted with red Vht paint (I ran out of black) and it turned white due to the heat. I like the setup and I have tried to keep everything very sleeper-ish. I have instaledl a vent in the hood above the intercooler for it to function - very low key though. I have about 5 guages that have been stealth mounted in the glove box. Turbo timer painted flat black and installed where the clock is supposed to go. Stock appearing but moves very well. Overall I am happy with how it has turned out. This my 3rd turbo project and my first attempt with Turbo edit. I will never do it any other way. I'm hoping to eventually get some forged parts and shoot for about 300 hp with a bigger turbo that I have lying around. I am on the hunt for som DSM 450's right now. I rebuilt the motor before the turbo kit went on and when I did a compression test it gave me 185 across the board - overall a good result for my first build from scratch using all new honda bearings and piston rings. For a sec I thought your mani was turning red hot.... Seen it on some porsche's and a relative's audi. It's crazy lookin.

Re: pics of my completed turbo setup.
whats ur a/f at with stock injectors? 240cc's? I'm supprized u havn't blown it up lol

Re: pics of my completed turbo setup.
hey man can you post pics from under and above the hood of the vent you were talkin about?
this is the exact same way i'm mounting my dsm sidemount and was planning on putting some kind of vent above to get some air there, and maybe cut out some of the fender well to give the air a place to escape BTW stealth setup rules O0 |

Re: pics of my completed turbo setup.
so I picked up some 450's and adjusted the bin in TE but I'm having a major problem getting the damn thing to idle well. Any thoughts or bins I can check out just for the idle section??

Re: pics of my completed turbo setup.
Why would you cover your charge piping in heat wrap??? It basicly works like a blanket. It keeps heat in, not out. The hotter the air molecules are the fasther they evacuate. Thats why you wrap you DP and or DT. Your actually making your IC work harder at cooling the hotter air. I have used wrap in all 4 of my projects and never wraped the intake piping. What you should be using is heat "shielding", it REFLECTS 90% of radient heat. I plan on buying some as soon as I have some money to blow. Ive also seen alot of older guys use heat reflective tape on alot of blown muscle cars. Just stick it anywhere your charged pipes come close to your mani or exhaust. You can pick it up at Home Depot, its used on home water heaters. Just putting in my 2 cents. Nice setup by the way. ;)

Your setup looks really nice, good job. Lets see a video.

Re: pics of my completed turbo setup.
Thats a tiny air filter! :P Just take that thing off and put on some wire mesh. Or hell just don't have one on there at all. I used stock 240cc injectors on my setup with RHB5 at 14psi and it held great and no pings or smokage at all. I was running a blue box and ran like stock. Great idle and nothing funny, no bogs, hesitation or anything.

That looks awesome man. Definately impressed.

Re: pics of my completed turbo setup.
did you lean it out some at idle when you put the 450's in?
|
Re: pics of my completed turbo setup.
After the red overspray burns off your exhaust manifold you should consider painting it white with high temperature exhaust manifold paint and then consider wrapping it. This will retain heat in the exhaust flowing to the turbo giving more energy to work with as well as keeping your under the hood temperatures down.

Re: pics of my completed turbo setup.
7 psi on a ihi is more like 150 whp.
